A reasonable person would accept that she just didn't feel comfortable sharing any information about where she's from. He certainly doesn't like sharing it save to make jokes at people without them knowing.

An irritated person might say something unkind. He has more than a few things he could say that would spoil the mood completely.

Vincent, however, recognizes that she has a connection to Heather. It seems to be a positive one. If their relationship sours, it'll get in the way of his goals and machinations.

An investment is an investment; his eyes open as he stares at her with distrust.

He blinks and the distrust fades to a warmer, conversational look. ]
