[by now, it seemed like they were usually on the same page. there was good understanding between them and she shouldn't worry. maybe it was because her situation had been wildly different than it was here. far more used to a man never meeting her halfway and it had always felt like she couldn't do much for him to understand her at all. Vander was different.

Not to make things too much of a bummer but I almost died. During that awful riot. I know you come back but...well, it's hard knowing you almost died, right? And then having that someone bleed out in your arms, knowing it was because of you...[her eyes look down, away from him. part of her doesn't like to share this with him. Maria knew Vander relied on her to be cheerful and fun so she tries to laugh it off.]
