There's a spike of anxiety in him that they're going to experience another memory of him killing a clone, so when the scene shifts to that of an unfamiliar river he's grateful. Of course, while he's unbothered by all the bodies he still understands that the scene is horrific.
He recognizes Vander first, because even though he's younger he's still bigger. Then it's Silco, no damage to his eye so this was before that happened -
