[ at first, shadow ignores the voice behind him, has nothing to do with him like everything else doesn't. it's not familiar, it's not her voice, and so he has to keep moving forward in order to find maria. she's not well, he doesn't want her to be alone, and he doesn't trust anyone with her even if she can see the better side of those that he can't. he thinks that he has a lead, if he comes through this area he can check to see if her kindness hasn't pulled her anywhere dangerous.
