Does violence determine whether a world is better or worse? [ There's genuine curiosity in his tone as he peers at Riz. It doesn't even seem to have occurred to him, the implication of that question. ] I would think it was a matter of suitability. Each creature has its own place in its world, and adapts to it.

[ That was how the Drzyr had worked - everything in its place, everything to one's caste...at least in theory. In practice, disputes always occurred.

Riz is always considerate, to talk about his world in a past tense. It is a small kindness, but he appreciates it.
]

...The Drzyr's resources were dedicated to efficiently prolonging their existence, searching the universe for sapient peoples other than themselves, and attempting to escape entropy. That last one is certainly existentially threatening, but...

[ Actually....He falters a bit, he's not totally sure now. ] Meeting its architect was...terminal. We were not prepared for it. [ He honestly doesn't know if you can be prepared for it. It had taken an extradimensional traveler to defeat it. Maybe the Drzyr themselves would have fared better?

So many unknowns.
]

Regardless. Your world sounds as if it has many threats to contend with, so it is only practical to be prepared. I agree that it is only responsible.

[ Drzyr start to train for their life's purpose at a young age, shepherded by the adults of House and caste. He doesn't see anything wrong with adventurer school, as long as it's all handled sensibly. ]
