[Clark makes sure he wakes up early on this very special day. Not that he isn't usually up with the chickens — not that they have chickens here — but he's got to make sure they beat Jon and get everything together.
It's been a rough month, between the mission and then Jon's disappointment about his valentines. And maybe he deserves to celebrate somewhere else, with the parents who have been there for every birthday, but he and Lois are the parents he's got here, and they love him too. So really it's no problem to play the hand they've been dealt and make sure Jon has a fun eleventh birthday.
