WHO: Vash, Rosie, Rin, Michiho WHEN: July 19th onward WHERE: Moorecroft Village WHAT: Familial shenanigans NOTES\WARNINGS: Could be some references to death/grief depending on where threads go, will update as necessary
[It's on an otherwise innocent Friday evening that the to-do list in the Stampede-Nurumi household chooses violence. Go on a date night and tell your partner a secret about yourself.
There's only one secret the board could be referring to, here, of course. Immediately, the first thought on Vash's mind is if the tasks are a requirement. Will it count against their planet if they avoid a task? Would Eos even know if he didn't? Could he get away with making something up?
He's getting ahead of himself, though. He doesn't even know if Rosie would be interested in that kind of thing with him. They've only just met, after all. Even if they're playing this role right now, she might prefer not to blur any lines. He comes up to Rosie's door several times to knock, before walking away for some reason or another -- the tea kettle going off, he forgot to close the patio door, was that a crash he heard somewhere? This time, though, when he's about to chicken out for the fourth time in one night, the door happens to coincidentally open while his fist is still in the air, leaving him face to face with his "wife" and nowhere to run. He doesn't even have a face-saving lie to tell for why he's here.]
Um. [Great start.] I was wondering if -- would you want to -- are you interested in --
[His fist is still in the air. He finally notices, putting it down hastily. It's still not too late for a retreat, albeit not one without embarrassment, and yet, he's rooted to the spot. At least the sunglasses hide the deer-in-headlights expression to some extent.]
...The calendar says we should go on a date. Is that okay?
[ All in all, Rosie's been enjoying domestic life a lot more than she ever thought she would. Nevermind that the woman can't cook to save anyone's life and nearly crashes their minivan on a daily basis. Being a 'housespouse' is still a fun little role to play for the time being and gives her a taste of a life she never thought she'd get to have.
While she didn't expect anything from her "husband," she can't deny the entertainment in teasing now and again. Or how falling into the routine of a 'normal' married couple on the surface was... nice. Maybe she was the one more at risk of blurring lines than anyone, honestly, but she was doing her best to keep his comfort in mind. Also, the fact that none of this was real and probably wouldn't matter in a couple of months. He likely wouldn't feel any kind of way about her, so...
That's why it comes as a bit of a surprise to hear him approach her room in the evening. Not once, twice, or even thrice but four times. He may have left the three time prior but this time, she catches him by heading to the door and opening it before he can knock. It's comical and a little cute how he doesn't seem to know how to react. She's about to say something but then he does first and- Oh. Is he-? ]
If...? [ she questions, head tilting to one side in curious anticipation. ]
Oh! Of course, it's okay! More than, actually, I just- Date night! What a cute idea. I'd love to. Do you have anything in mind?
[This could be...worse. It could be a lot worse, actually, so in all respects this was the better end of all that could've happened to her. They could've been stuck with a little robot baby that cried all the time. Instead she got...a family. And a sister.
That was a point of internal contention for Michiho, but she'd bitten her tongue about it and smiled through it.
And now they had reign of the house and Michiho was...poking her nose into everything. Every room has its door opened, drawers opened and rifled through, things taken out and laid on other surfaces just to take a count of everything there.
It all seems very American, cookie-cutter picture-perfect houses that look like they belong in a sitcom or on a magazine. She's making a huge mess, and not really cleaning up behind her as she goes so expect to find things just strewn about. Try not to trip!!
Michiho can be found anywhere in the house looking through the contents of closets or drawers in rooms or the kitchen or...anywhere.]
B.
[She's never really done much cooking on her own. She's grown fond of food the longer she's been stuck in this place though, and it's nice to have the pace t otry.
Unfortunately, she doesn't really know where to even begin. She's pulled out a bunch of ingredients, including vegetables or meat from the fridge and stands with her hands on her hips, staring at them all. She can't think of a single thing to be able to make. Where the rice cooker?!
Suddenly she just wants instant ramen and to give up attempting all of this, but as someone wanders in, she looks up with a grin] Hey! Any ideas about dinner?
[ ... Oh, shit, that's right. She's a mom, isn't she? Cooking is, like, one of the things she's supposed to do.
Rosie unfortunately just stares for a moment like a deer caught in headlights. Then, once she catches up to the present and sets aside her misplaced guilt, confusion, and so on: ] Uhm.
[She tilts her head one way and then the other, considering the cabinets] I'm thinking takeout might be better, honestly!
[She laughs a little and runs a hand through her hair, rubbing the back of her neck] I was going to make some rice and eggs, real simple-like, but I don't know if a rice cooker even exists here... I guess I could do it the old fashioned way, but..
[But it takes a while and she was growing so fond of modern appliances!!]
[ Well, at least her daughter said it not her. That makes it better, right? She feels like it does. ]
Oh, not a bad suggestion. I feel you though- What kind of house doesn't have a rice cooker? [ She's also a fan of modern appliances. Despite being a feral demon living off the land for like two hundred years, man- Microwaves are fucking great. ]
We could still make it though. Maybe, like. A bonding opportunity? I don't know if that's a 'task' or whatever, but... [ Since, well, she knows those in the house really aren't under any obligation to spend time with her more than they have to or anything. She hardly knows them, after all. ]
