WHEN: During the Moorecroft event.
WHERE: Various Moorecroft locales.
WHAT: A bunch of youths have gotten together to break curfew in tandem to get to the bottom of the mystery at heart of this place -- but what they find leads to more questions than answers.
NOTES\WARNINGS: Probable violence, death, emotional trauma, cursing. All the fun stuff! Bizarre match.

[Artificer isn't exactly an overly accepted branch of magic, even though it vaguely falls under the same territory as wizardry and bard magic. There's even some debate as to whether or not it should be considered seperate from wizardry at all. She remembers that Thed Talk.]

I suppose you could prepare in advance of your rages, prioritizing the utility aspect of the artificer class over any active combat use. Still, they don't exactly mesh.

[ He looks at her, not with any particular expression beyond the furrowed brow he usually wears, his feelings--complicated. This isn't a new topic for him, it's been his entire present school year, though he's never talked about it with Adaine's sister.

Still, he tilts his head in a nod, agreeing with her assessment quietly. She's not wrong, of course. ]

I like what I do as a barbarian, and I like artificing. Even if they don't mesh well... I get a lot out of them. I know I just need to find a good combination. [ But it's not just about making the best of both, is it? And he looks at her, his brows lowering and brow furrowing more. ] If I can learn to go into a rage when I need to and do everything I do, and that's like second nature to me, then I think there's-- there's a way for me to do spells, too. It's just another form of control. That's what everything is.

[ Even rage, as absurd as that sounds, is for plenty of barbarians. But that's not what his rage is: it has purpose. It's a state of being that he wields.

And if he can wield an axe, why not magic? ]

[According to all known laws of Arcana... there isn't. The barbarian rage state blocks any viable method for maintaining the focus necessary to cast spells. It's a heightened emotional state that would fizzle out if it was interrupted by the stillness of mind required to cast magic.

...Mm. Well. Part of being a wizard - or an Artificer, I guess - is experimenting with those limits and finding ways to break them.

It's technically impossible for me to summon like, ten elementals at once, but I managed to figure out a way. The arcane mechanics behind a crystal or a computer are similarly complicated enough that they'd probably drive a Falinese apprentice to madness.

[ Gorgug had no expectations for reactions, positive or negative, to his admittedly defensive position; but the almost positive note (even indirectly) does surprise Gorgug. But he likes the kind it is: people doing the impossible, with Aelwyn being her own example--and nevermind that he and the others were on the other side of those elementals.

It doesn't have to be deep. It doesn't have to matter, but his lips twitch in a small and brief smile. ]

They could do with that happening. A lot of the people we met in Fallinel were really stiff.
