open; does not play well with others
WHO: Vincent Smith and OPEN.
WHEN: Mid-December.
WHERE: Outside the hospital.
WHAT: Vincent sets up a surveillance camera.
NOTES\WARNINGS: Permission post. OOC post. I can't think of any but will update if anything comes up.
first step to setting up a surveillance camera, be yourself and have fun.
[ Rather than explain to anyone what he is doing, Vincent decides to take it upon himself to set a camera up to monitor the entrance of the hospital. Does anyone need to know he's doing this? Are they the boss of him? The answers in his mind are: no.
It also appears that the companion bots don't seem to be particularly bothered with what he's doing, so he takes that as approval.
Vincent does, however, wish he had come up with this idea when it was a little warmer. As it stands, it's snowy - and he's still drowning in knitwear. He's dragged along quite a few items to help him complete his task!
One is a wireless camera. Batteries. Laptop. Electric screwdriver. Mounting posts. And a ladder.
How did he bring all these items? He took a shopping cart, because whatever. Ask someone to help carry it? Please.
Anyway - that is how some find him, figuring out how to mount the camera and to keep it out of the way of weather (which seems pointless to him given Etraya but whatever!!) and standing on a ladder without anyone to hold it.
It's fine. ]
second step is making sure it fucking works.
[ Or he's sitting on the ladder, he is checking over the connection to make sure that it actually is going to transmit to the laptop or not. He occasionally violently shakes the laptop before crawling back up the ladder to try to figure out what is going on.
Does he intend to use the laptop for anything else other than to be where he can monitor the camera? Nope! ]
and now for something else! moving!
[ Guess who has moved?
Well, moved is a broad term - the term is that he told Barnabas that he's going to be his neighbor.
Vincent acquired himself a trolley so that he could start dragging items from point-a A back to his citadel. Rely on the companion bots to feed and worry about these things? Absolutely not! That's accruing a debt with them that could be called upon at any time.
(But Vincent - all items here are free, so-? So what! He's acquiring them and going through the trouble dragging them across the distance back home! He didn't ask any of them to help him so it's without cost, actually. It's actually at a deficit because of how much he hates physical labor.)
But yes --
-- people might see him using a trolley to drag along heavy items back to Stonhyrr that he feels the medieval fortress needs because it needs so much! Due to being minimal! Thankfully, it has a bed, but whatever! Whatever!
Of course, this is going as well as assumed; he's not that physically fit and trying to move items like a fridge or an oven by himself.
Oh, well. ]
wildcard;
[ I dunno, man. PM or DM @ marvelouscheers if you want to do something else and not sure about it. Or you can just throw something down, I'm game. ]

first of all,
Uh, [ comes the eloquent noise when she spots Vincent. Hm. As the queen of 'it's fine' herself, she can recognize when it might not actually be. ]
Didn't realize this place was getting extra security, [ she mentions, casually reaching out to grab one side of that ladder. Subtle enough he might not notice that she's trying to help since she figures he didn't ask for help for a reason. Again, she gets it, but also: ] Not the best day for an installation though.

His knitwear is even more of a disaster up close - brightly colored and no piece matching the "theme" of the one before it. His sweater has Christmas lights and snowflake designs. His hat has stripes in multiple colors. The knitted gloves might match the hat save the bright colors of each finger doesn't match the bright colors of the striped hat. As for the scarf, it looks like it's designed with themes of reindeer. ]
Does it need security? [ He chimes back. ] I agree, but sadly, this idea came to me after the weather decided to be as it is, so -- [ He shrugs with power tool in hand. ]
no subject
Not really, [ she concedes, putting more of her weight on that ladder to keep it steady. Her weight isn't a lot but still enough to keep it more than stable. ] You get the occasional person waking up a bit panicked, but usually they calm down quickly.
So, if you're not security: why are you installing a camera here? [ Notably, there is no judgement in her tone. Simply curiosity. ]
no subject
Vincent has that thought of not explaining what he's doing. There's no reason for anyone to know, but at the same time, it isn't all that damning. He doesn't particularly care who comes dragging their broken bodies into the hospital for help. All of his concerns are checking out what baked goods have been made and capitalizing on them in one way or another.
His eyes roll up as he pauses to think on how to reply before saying: ]
Just keeping an eye on when we get those panicked people who calm down quickly.
no subject
She considers his response, too, and wonders if there isn't more. Even if there is, does she care what his intentions actually are? ... Not really, she decides. It also like she isn't doing anything she wouldn't want caught on camera anyway. ]
Okay, [ the woman says. ] That's nice of you. Just make sure to position the camera so you get my best sides, yeah?

second step
Does he want to know? Not really, but with so few buildings around and only one hospital, he figures he should ask. So he comes to a stop in front of the guy, his scowl questioning.]
The hell are you doing?
no subject
[ He lifts his head to acknowledge the question by firing it back in the same tone. However, it may be obvious that he's just using those seconds to process what has been said to him.
His face immediately scrunches up in irritation. ]
What the hell are you doing? [ He gestures with a wave of his hand. ] Is that all you got for yourself? Do you know how to grocery shop, Accelerator? [ So he asks as he's back to looking at his laptop screen. ]
no subject
I needed coffee.
[Which is to say he isn't all that great at grocery shopping beyond buying a lot of coffee, no. He isn't particularly bothered by that, his gaze traveling back to the laptop.]
You still haven't answered my question.
no subject
[ Vincent may be muttering something about "espers these days" before gently pushing his glasses up with his mitten. And then getting snow on the bottom part of the lens -- and immediately grumbling about that seconds later. ]
Since we're both so close -- [ And he hasn't seen what's to become of Accelerator. ] -- my laptop isn't connecting to that -- [ And he points to the camera. ]
no subject
[That's a rhetorical question, this is about as low effort as you can get and he knows it. Besides, his addiction is to canned coffee, and he doesn't see any point in trying to change it.
His eyes travel up to the camera, hanging on it suspiciously.]
.... Are you trying to stalk people or something?

moving
... ]
Is it broken? [ He calls out across their distance.
And then, a brilliant idea occurs that he adds a second after: ] Because it doesn't look like it's running to me.
[ Yes, he is smiling to himself after saying that because he is proud of himself. ]
no subject
His teeth snap together.
Running his tongue over his chapped lips, he twists his head around to look properly at Gorgug. The smile that he's greeted with definitely makes him think he should look for a rock. His eyes drag along the sidewalk but there isn't a stone in sight. ]
Good one. [ He replies instead, tilting his head away with a slight smile. ] How are you today?
no subject
I'm okay. Is this new training? Or is it actually broken?
no subject
[ If it was, he might have a few words for Chu Wenshan, but because he's doing this to himself, it's fine. Vincent is nothing if not a person that is full of contradictions and double standards. ]
It's not broken -- it's unplugged and I'm attempting to move it. [ Patting the side of the fridge, he lets out a small sigh. ] I'm going to tell you something and you're not going to tell anyone else, all right?
[ Does he have any leeway? Anything he can hold over him?
He certainly can't trust people to just keep their word or agree to his stipulations. They don't know him; he doesn't know them. What reason do they have to agree to do anything the other person asks? Leverage and deals, of course. ]
Much like how I didn't tell anyone about the lightning. [ A veiled threat. ]
no subject
Okay. What is it?
[ Whatever, Gorgug's interested. ]

first of all
He walks up to the hospital, but pauses as he makes note of the equipment and man covered in knitwear. Hmm, interesting. But he has places to be, so he leaves it at that.
It's when he's walking out of the hospital an hour later, and he sees that same man standing on a ladder unassisted, that Fukuzawa finally gives up and goes over. He reaches out with one ungloved hand and grabs the ladder to steady it, all while looking up at Vincent.]
What are you doing?
[Listen, he can still be helpful while questioning someone's actions.]
no subject
[ He's going to sit down on the top of the ladder. It makes an unfortunate noise with his sudden sitting down, but he only gives it a look like that would be enough to stop it from tipping over. Thankfully, it only shudders a little without his balance being lost.
Lifting his hand, he dabs the bottom of his nose with his mitten. Unfortunately, the slight chill in the air has caused his nose to run a little. But whatever - he stares at the man looking up at him. ]
I think I saw you before, right? I hope you're feeling better.
[ He says with no hint of actually being sincere. ]
no subject
[He's not going to talk about his injuries or how he got them, he's already been warned by Dazai. There are ears everywhere, and that's enough to motivate an already-private person like Fukuzawa. But he will still be polite about it.]
It looks like you're trusting a shaky ladder.
no subject
[ Pleasantries completed, he returns to looking at the wall where he's trying to screw in the mount for the camera. How he longs for the days of being a high-ranking member of a cult and could delegate these tasks to someone else. ]
It's better than trusting shaky people, no?
[ An awkward smile flashes. ] Unless you'd be so kind as to hold it, although, I'd wonder what you'd like in return.
no subject
In the end, he says none of these, and instead just sighs as he takes hold of the ladder.]
I don't do things with the expectation of something in return.
[That's probably the best thing to say anyway. Though it's still contradictory, as his services of a detective do come with the expectation of pay.]

He has that very intelligent thought that most people have probably had upon meeting a mammoth that seems to be capable of speech.
That's a fucking mammoth. ]
no subject
To get it to work faster - or at all.
no subject
Does this have to do with that thing you've put up by the entrance?
no subject
The voice in his head is mildly amused as he lightly dabs underneath his nose to deal with how it is running. A sniffle comes a few seconds later.
His head cants to the side as he realizes something and sets the laptop on a different rung of the ladder. ]
Yes. Up there is a camera. [ Point. ] I don't know what you understand as far as technology goes but I suppose you're doing all right?
I assume since you aren't rampaging around in confusion which does beg the question if you did when you arrived to this strange new world.
