Putting the fun in functional (Closed)
WHO: Accelerator & Vander
WHEN: January 4
WHERE: Arcade
WHAT: Vander owes Accelerator some fun, and Accelerator doesn't agree with him.
NOTES\WARNINGS: It's all positively heartwarming aside from Accelerator cussing
[Vander had now been here long enough to accomplish his two big goals: he didn't die from Shimmer withdrawal but was still dealing with some of the itch picking at him, and he had walked around the place enough times to know he could not be inactive. He appreciated being alive, but this place was nothing like home and the fact everything was free was not a concept he could wrap his mind around.
So, he required a distraction. That came when he discovered the arcade, which was and wasn't like the one that his kids used to play in. That in and of itself made being in it painful, but he was all for compartmentalizing his grief at this point. He supposed he'd fill the void briefly with another kid.]
I found some technology I need help navigating, and you helped me before. Care to lend an old guy a hand again?
And I owe you fun. Meet me outside of this brightly lit up place [Insert address] at [Insert date/time].
-V.
[He didn't leave that much time, simply what he thought was reasonable for him to be able to walk from certain points in this place. He waited around outside, in clothing that actually fit him and was smoking a cigarette since he wasn't able to find the kind of pipe he liked. He stood in the shadow of the building, not used to the brightness even after a few days.
Still, hopefully the kid would show.]

[If he had taken Last Order seriously, gotten her to Yoshikawa right away, given the slightest shit about her situation he wouldn't be where he was today. He'd have a fully functioning brain.
It is what it is, and he shrugs faintly. It was his mistake, and he's fine with living with it for the rest of his life.
Galaga was a good choice; Accelerator can feel his remaining anger slipping away as his brain starts calculating. The movements of the enemies are revealing formulas and algorithms to him that he finds familiar.]
Yeah, the programming for it seems really fucking basic. The enemy pathing looks complicated, but it's just a bezier curve followed by moving to a pre-plotted point on an array, so it's easy to calculate where they're going to move to.

[For someone who had grown up on the basis of survival and making choices to not suffer permanent disabilities wherever possible, it seemed an odd statement to make from another person. Perhaps it was hyperbole or perhaps this smart kid had prevented something worse happening. It went against the grain of what he knew and that made him deeply curious.
Vander was having fun with the game with its more basic controls. While he saw the patterns of movements the longer they played, he wouldn't be able to say anything about why it was the way it was. Silco had been the big brains in their operation.]
Oh is it? You're such a nerd, Accelerator. All that big brain energy and you're finally having some fun with math.

[That's it. He never had a good reason not to help Last Order. He was just selfish and didn't, and when he finally changed his mind, it was too late for a perfect outcome. Last Order survived, at least, and that's what's important.
At the ribbing Accelerator scowls. Is it fun calculating out the algorithms of a bunch of pixelated bugs? He isn't sure, that's just how his brain functions.]
Tche, it's really fucking obvious is all. Anyone with eyes can see it.

[He couldn't imagine not having a reason to simply allow a permanent disability. The kid was able to get around, but the brain was not something that could be replaced after damage. Limbs sure, they had augmentations, but that kind of neurological damage? He'd need a good reason to accept allowing it to happen.
And he did. His traumatic brain injury had killed him (sort of).
He made a noise of acknowledgement as if 'obvious' wasn't the word that he would use as he continued to play the game. His mind didn't work that way, but he admired those that did.]
Never stop being you, kiddo.
