WHEN: January 17th - January 23rd
WHERE: Etraya
WHAT: The arrival of newcomers and some new construction!
NOTES\WARNINGS:
![]() ⏵ arrival ⏴ Welcome to Etraya! Arrival goes as expected - characters awaken on hospital beds and are offered an explanation of their situation: that they have arrived in the city of Etraya, and they are their world's only hope. They are welcome to wander the hospital if they would like to - the upper floors are mostly empty, full of pristine hallways and numerous rooms filled with supplies, cots, and things one would expect from a relatively average 21st-century hospital. A coat rack is situated by the doors leading out of the hospital, covered in warm clothing that fits the new arrivals just right - whether it's to their preferred style or not is something else entirely. Some of them appear normal enough. Others? Well. Looks like someone was trying to improve on last month's designs. Outside the windows, the grass is covered in a couple of inches of loosely packed snow. We hope you enjoy your stay. ![]() ⏵ passion for fashion ⏴ As the newcomers find themselves leaving the hospital as per their usual arrival, they will find that not too far from it is a small boutique. Newly added, just as they have been, though they lack the context to know this. Companion bots will encourage them to go in and meet the particularly unique bot inside, dressed to the nines in line with the fashion the boutique itself is offering. While small, it's clearly been decorated to emphasize the loose era and taste of the particular fashion it's advertising. The building itself is also petite, and made to feel more personal rather than a commercial experience. It has a single dressing room, and outside of it has an area with mirrors where one might take in their lovely visage from nearly all angles. There is a little waiting area with seating in the front, for those who are not being molded through Theobold's vision, or simply waiting for whoever is. The tastes and aforementioned era of this little establishment is decidedly Victorian, with a bold splash of neon trimming, cog-like adornments, and other accessories that brighten up the otherwise neutral fabrics typically used in the style of dress. Theobold, as he has named himself and will not let anyone forget, has taken to a three-piece suit, a deep emerald in color, with a black vest, and matching black gloves. He will take it upon himself to judge each person's attire (which he will unabashedly hate), then restyle them into something more along his tastes (even if it takes him a while, he will find something you don't ruin). There are, of course, many different combinations to pick from, all hearkening to a very loud style of dress that seems as much neon as it is punk or steam. One might even name it steampunk with a splash of neon. Neon Steampunk? Something like that. An interesting combination to say the least, Theobold insists as much. This is, of course, not simply limited to newcomers, though they will likely be exposed to this boutique more quickly than the others. Any who come near the general area of the hospital (thus the boutique) will find themselves being encouraged by the other bots to come inside, and they will likewise be judged and restyled to Theobold's tastes—which are as bright as they are bold. He really doesn't take no for an answer, though he can't truly stop anyone from leaving any more than a pushy grandmother fussing over her grandchild's clothes might. He has obviously discovered his passion, why not indulge him? ![]() ⏵ trending or treading ⏴ After enjoying the privilege of being restyled by Theobold, he will also insist that you take the outfit for a spin around the city! See what people say, take note of how many looks you catch, how many eyes are on you. He wants to hear about it as well, clearly to validate his own artistry, and who can blame him? Does not every artist strive to hear a little bit of praise for their hard work? Do they not yearn for recognition from the public? Theobold may be a bot, but he is also an artist honing his craft! His boutique is not above critique, though he hopes the critique isn't too harsh... Should one indulge him, telling about what others thought, he will gladly gift the outfit to the wearer. A humble act of his endless generosity! Or if they fancy another outfit of their own taste from his boutique, then that will suffice as well. Even if it breaks his heart that you don't like the outfit. No, no. It's fine, really. It's perfectly okay. Everyone has their tastes, and yours just happens to stab him in his mechanical heart. He'll get over it. In time. Probably. ![]() ⏵ leaving tracks ⏴ Companion bots have taken to building train tracks, as well as what appears to be a train station, in the South Eastern island of Etraya. The area is, for the most part, blocked off from Etrayans. After all, it is a construction zone, and the companion bots are ever vigilant with safety. At least they try to be. However, if people wish to lend their aid in the construction, well, they won't necessarily stop them. However they will assure them that they are not in need of assistance, and might intermittently remind those especially helpful Etrayans of that fact. Those who wish to simply watch the construction may do so, but nothing especially interesting is going on beyond the mystery of what this these tracks and the station might be for. Besides a train, of course. After all, since when has there been any mention of a train? Asking the companion bots about it will yield little results. They won't be able to give any further details besides the obvious: when this is done, it will be for a train. It seems even they might not know the full extent of what this entails, or maybe they cannot say. Regardless the reason of their lack of explanation, it seems patience might be the key to the answer. Some may notice that in the area Gorgug's friend had gone exploring outside of the environmental bubble, there is a message written on a massive piece of fabric, which is tied to two large rebar poles. The message is in an alien language, but the earpiece will automatically translate it: DID YOU THINK YOU WERE THE ONLY ONES? On the bottom of the fabric are four vertical lines. Every Friday, a vertical line becomes crossed through with a horizontal one. For all questions relating to this log, please refer to the mod queries comment. There's also the fact that this place doesn't numb down the thing that's locked inside of his body, the way The City had. No, here the demon king is fully awake and fully aware, and even if it's lying low for now so that it can observe its surroundings first, its mere presence is so much — surges of energy and impossibly bright colours, lights, and sounds, something ancient and powerful — that it's keeping Peter in something of a dazed state. His mind's a weird foggy thing, the pupils of his eyes a bit swollen, mouth tipped open as he shuffles around the area, looking lost.
He ambles slowly up towards the little display near the hospital — yet to become a victim of the boutique, he's still in his very Teenage-Stoner-Chic wear: hoodie, jeans, and faded black Converse. His hood's pulled up over a mess of black curls as though in attempt to hide himself a little, but unfortunately he kind of stands out: six foot tall and moving like a dazed sleepwalker down the street, eyes wide.
When he realises what the girl in the cowboy hat and fancy clothes is doing, his eyes grow even wider, and he comes to a halt a few feet away, looking nervous when she greets him and shoving his hands deeply into his hoodie pockets. He has no idea what the fuck he's doing here! ]

an zhe | little mushroom
[An Zhe, freshly outfitted in a weird frog jacket, barely lasts five minutes outside the hospital before getting dragged into the nearby clothing store like the pushover he is. It takes a good while for the robot to finish fussing over him as well, and when he finally comes out again...well, he's wearing a nice warm jacketed dress with matching boots and is honestly looking even more lost than he was when he first left the hospital?
But lost though he is, he at least has a goal: Mister Theobold wanted him to see people's opinions on the clothes! So watch as this 5'2 guy in what is clearly not a men's outfit walks very stiffly around the area, looking around at all the different strangers, before finally catching a heel on something (possibly air) and immediately tripping...sideways?]
Ah.
[Down he goes...]
Curious Shroom
[After getting gifted his new clothes for keeps, An Zhe turns to exploring this new world for real! He is noticeably fascinated by the fact there's grass and other bits of nature within an inhabited city, curiously kicking snow away to reveal the green below, before pausing to let out a tiny sneeze.]
......Snow is edible, right...?

He's a pretty weird figure moving around, one who keeps pausing and standing completely still every few minutes, eyes going unfocused and mouth tipping open, before he slowly comes out of these fugue states and keeps walking again. (Side effects of being Severely Possessed by a demon king of Hell who keeps flaring up in his head and making him go all wonky!)
He's wandering around aimlessly when he ambles close enough to hear the little sneeze. Peter startles, heart skipping a couple of beats, before he catches sight of the person. It's an almost comical display of the six-foot-tall boy who's filled with horrors staring down with visible fear at the shorter, like he's the scary one. ]

Jason Todd | Batman: Wayne Family Adventures | OTA
Once again, the companion bots are pushier than Jason likes. It's only because he's curious about Etraya's newest building that he doesn't just knock the bots down and storm off. Once he's in the shop, he frowns. The fashion on display is unusual in colors but some of the clothes still remind Jason of the fussier and stiff outfits he sees in fancy parties.
As soon as Theobold is done with him, Jason leaves the shop and is now rocking a bright red waistcoat over a light grey dress shirt, fingerless spiked gloves, fancy dress pants, and black riding boots.
It's far from being the worse thing Jason has ever worn but it's still not what he would've picked.
"Would've been nice if he at least gave me some old-fashioned pistols to match," he grumbles as he tugs down on his waistcoat.

Kirk Langstrom | Justice League: Gods and Monsters | OTA
Even before becoming a vampire, Kirk rarely went out, much less go out to anywhere fancy. Since becoming Batman, he was more likely to wear his Batman suit than anything else. So his wardrobe is rather limited and he virtually had no formal clothes. Much to his displeasure, the companion bots are eager to fix that. Theobold being a new companion bot and the appearance of a new building only just barely keep Kirk from leaving immediately.
It takes some time but eventually, Kirk comes out of the shop in an outfit more fashionable than the plain and drab casual clothes he was wearing before. The black coat and bluish-purple waistcoat over his white dress shirt fit him just right. The same goes for the matching black pants and buckled boots. In a surprising move, the companion bots let him keep his red sunglasses. Along with his deathly pale skin, the red sunglasses pops out nicely in contrast to the rest of his clothes. Topping it all off is a top hat with subtle bat decorations.
Kirk... does not look all that comfortable in his new duds though. He bows his head and tries to shield his eyes with the hat. He's not used to dressing so fanciful.
"This feels ridiculous," he murmurs to himself.

Vander - Arcane
The problem with only having one set of clothing was that it forced him to go in search of other fashion opportunities. Most of the time, it was difficult to find clothing that fit his frame well or was in a fashion that he was inclined to wear in the first place. He was an old dog sometimes, and he wasn't particularly easily convinced to learn new tricks.
Of course, the new boutique was an opportunity to find clothing that wasn't too snug across his shoulders. The robot proprietor seemed to assess his size and buzz with the challenge of it, prattling on and handing various clothing types, fabrics and cuts until he considered trying to leave by a window.
Finally, Vander found himself finishing rolling up the sleeves of his attire to the elbow. He tried at least twice to leave the hat behind, but eventually, he relented as he held his hands up and stepped back out in the streets.
Okay, okay, honest feedback? Not his but a city's opinion? Well, fine, he supposed. It allowed him to leave even if he was bemused by the tutting machine, and he turned to the first person that happened to be the streets and tipped his hat forward slightly.
"The proprietor thinks I look devilish handsome in the new digs. Agree or disagree?" Of course, he flashed a charming smile for effect.
ii. Leaving Tracks
Vander had actually spent a few months laying tracks in his youth, and considering this was the first train project he had seen, he took an active interest in it. Of course, his stint laying track was for a far more nefarious purpose, and he had used the opportunity to stir a little rebellion in the workers and access the shift supervisors so that he and Silco could find a little space on the locomotives to smuggle their goods in and out.
This didn't seem like something someone willed here, so he of course used his size, his strength and his ability to just not take no as a legitimate answer to push his way onto the construction site to assist. Armed with hammer, he pounded in the rail spikes for several meters of line, ignoring the reminder that his assistance wasn't needed. He conveniently 'forgot' to remove a few screw spikes from his pockets as he worked.
Vander followed the construction requirements, adding the necessary fish plates and fish bolts to parts of the track, and his inquiries of where how long it was meant to be, where it was going didn't receive answers.
He eventually moved off to the side to observe the work and back outside of the range of the construction site so he could pull a cigarette from a pack in his pocket and lit it. Grease, dirt and sweat covered, he was unperturbed by his state. Only observing the continued action.
"Either they don't know or won't say what all this is for. I suppose better than cart and beasts of burden...."

[Want to start something with Vander?
SilcoFeel free to write a starter or let's plot!i
As far as costume changes for Sevika goes? She's swapped her original jacket out for a thicker wool one for the sake of not freezing her ass off. She's pinned up one of the sleeves for reasons Vander's already aware of, though the poncho remains in lieu of a scarf. Clearly, she hasn't set foot into Theobold's store yet. Good guess is that she doesn't want to.
Sevika's been watching the new, all-too-familiar stores that the bots have thrown up seemingly overnight for a bit now from the shadows of an alley between them. She doesn't appreciate any of them. Seeing what kind of nonsense people get stuffed into at the clothing one, however, has been a source of easy amusement. This mean's she lingers, idly smoking a cigarette, only she hasn't said a damn thing until it's Vander strolling out dolled up like a topsider.
It's hilarious. It's disgusting. It's a lot of things. Safe to say his charming smile does nothing in this case.

Manny | Ice Age
[Every once in a while, there’s always a new addition to the setting of Etraya. In this case, it would be this boutique that Manny couldn’t help but feel intrigued about, if only because of the commotion around it. The moment he steps inside of the building itself, he’s immediately "greeted" by Theobold, who proceeds to criticise the mammoth's current "attire" and decides that he needed a makeover.
Once the bot is done with the restyling process, Manny came out of the shop with a hat along with a shirt that’s been heavily modified to fit his proportions. Needless to say, the mammoth's certainly not pleased about it.]
What’s the point of this?
[Tracks]
[As he travelled to the South Eastern Island, Manny came across a couple of companion bots building tracks along with a building nearby. For the first couple of minutes, the mammoth simply watched the construction of these tracks as he pondered about what this is all about. But eventually, he decides to help out with the building process in spite of the bot's protests.
Thanks to his large size along with his immense strength, Manny had no problem carrying a couple of rails, fish plates and railroad ties for the tracks. His companion, a Dwarf Sicilian Elephant, was also helping out with the process as he carries the fish bolts and the railroad spikes. Together, the two pachyderms were able to make quick progress of building the tracks as Manny placed down the rails, fish plates and railroad ties while the dwarf elephant puts on the fish bolts and railroad spikes to fasten them together and onto the ground.
In the middle of the building process, he might notice a couple of people nearby. Anyone else who’s helping with the construction might get a question directed towards them.]

i. passion for fashion (henry's a magical girl)
[ Henry doesn't fully understand what happened, but that is nothing new.
He did, however, get a robe and quite a few other items due to finding broken pieces of the pearl - so that was exciting. Taking out a wand, he flicks it in the air to manifest the clothes that he acquired. It really is like magic. And the white rat that helped him find the broken pieces still sits on his shoulder.
While he has no idea why anything is happening, he at least feels like he - and others - didn't suffer too much in the library.
Small victories.
It's really all he can take at the moment. ]
ii. anyway that door's gotta go
[ Locating an apartment that suits him best, he does as he said that he was going to -- remove the front door.
It isn't as difficult as one would think. He had five days to go through the logistics of it while he was trapped in his apartment, after all. And, thankfully, it did go as easily as he thought. Propping the door against the wall just inside the entryway, he feels better already about everything.
He can leave whenever he wants to - and see the outside of his apartment easily.
Certainly, he thinks that he'll get used to being in Etraya and when that happens, he'll put the door back, but until then, the door's staying where it is. ]

Doreen Green / Squirrel Girl | Marvel comics
[ Doreen is happy to humour Theobold (who could say no to a fashionista robot!), and has been hooked up with a cute set of overalls with more buttons than seem strictly necessary, a pinstriped shirt, and some thigh-high stockings that look like they came straight from a Steampunk convention circa 2015. She is unironically thrilled, especially since the overalls have been thoughtfully modded with a slot for her tail! ]
Are you kidding me. Are you kidding me! Man, why don't people dress like this all the time?! This rules!
Leaving Tracks
[ Doreen has been politely rebuffed by the construction robots, even though she's demonstrated that she's really good at heavy lifting by hefting an armful of steel rails over her shoulder. Trying to convince the robots that she has previous experience with construction work doesn't help either, especially since it was technically 'under the table demolition work', and when she comes up empty after asking several questions about the railway station, Doreen finally takes a breather and sits back to watch.
You'll find her sitting to one side of the tracks with her tail curled around her knees, resting her chin in one hand. ]

To another city? They don't seem to be looping it back into here, and this seems to be the edge of the area....

Paine | Final Fantasy X-2
Don't you think this is the pot calling the kettle black?
[That's what Paine says to Theobold as he flits about her, waving about a measure and tut-tutting at her sartorial choices. She'd admit (if really pressed) that her clothes are unusual for Spira, but as far as she's concerned, her little critic is entirely overdressed.
Normally she wouldn't entertain anyone criticizing her as soon as they'd met her, but the sight of this little machina who is so advanced as to be fussy is novel enough to override her aggravation at the presumption. At the word black she can almost see an exclamation point over his head and he zips off to fetch what looks like various bits and pieces of a Victorian widow's weeds--veil and coat and jet cufflinks.
Paine shakes her head, equal parts bemused and amused.]
This is a lot to put up with just for the sake of a free outfit.
[But after she decides to humor the bot's tailoring impulses, Paine has to admit... it's not a half-bad look on her. The ominous capelet and the ruffled skirt with its crimson bustier are an interesting variation on what she usually wears... a sort of "Paine from another world" vibe.
She's not going to actively solicit critique, that being said. But she is going to keep out an eye out for anyone else who looks like they've met Theobold and his sewing kit.]
You got roped into it too, huh?
Railroading
[Paine paces along the construction barriers on one side of the traintracks. There are a few things on her mind. One is an idle thought that Gippal would have hopped the fence right now to get up to his elbows in this project. Another is that the sight of these neat, regular rails reaching off into the distance is a little eerie.
But mainly, the question that a person from Spira--which aside from having only had a millennium of technological restricted lifted a couple of years ago, thrives on its sea travel--has to ask herself is what the hell is a train.]
Hey. [She approaches, and gives a nod towards the work going on.] You know anything about all this?

fashion crime
That is so. It is...most unfitting for me. [ He's inherited his creators' utilitarian sense of design, so this is almost too much for him to handle. ]

Jayce Talis | Arcane
Leaving tracks
[ooc: or wildcard!! do whatever!!]
passion for fashion!!
[ Is what he mutters but at least the fit matches his crutch, which is the only thing it has going for it?? But that's not all! The hardships of this day just keep compounding on themselves with situations he does not appreciate! But it's only compounded further by the fact that Jayce is there and he actually would very much like to disappear. He will shift the goggles up onto his head before he speaks. His expression is neutral aside from the slightly upturned corner of his lips. A "smile" sort of. ] Am I interrupting?
[ The other seems to be taking this all rather well, unsurprisingly. Sometimes he wished he could simply go with the flow but this was not that day!! There's a pause before he takes a seat on the couch with a sigh. ]
You seem to be enjoying yourself. [ Which makes one of them, at least. ]
