⏵ a hero's return ⏴ As champions exit the Labyrinth, they’ll find that their environment has gone through some fairly drastic changes. Where there used to be larger bodies of water is now thinner rivers going through land; the amount of bridges connecting landmasses has decreased, given what had been individual islands are now much more connected. In addition, Etraya is significantly more green; flowers bloom, birds chirp cheerfully, and there are numerous additional species of insects, mammals, and aquatic creatures throughout the lands. Baby foxes roam through forested areas, bees pollinate the flowers to spread them more thoroughly around the inhabited areas, and it feels brighter. Or perhaps that’s just in comparison to how the Labyrinth had been. There are more areas to explore, new facilities, animals, and Etraya feels significantly more settled than it had before. Aurora’s promise of renovations had been true. And if one looks up, they may notice a city bubble visible on the closest planet that hadn't been visible before. ⏵ coffee break ⏴ After hearing Clarke’s suggestion, Aurora sets up a new cafe close to the apartment complex, and sends out notices to individuals with mandatory coffee hour times listed for them to come to Corrine's Cafe and make a few friends. While the note does state that it is mandatory, there will be no follow-up from Aurora nor the companion bots to ensure those who receive notes do show. Given this is Aurora trying to take suggestions in mind and see how successful they are among the citizens of Etraya, however, following directives may not be a terrible idea. It's up like a modern-day, smaller cafe. One walks in through the front door, and is greeted by a companion bot behind the counter who offers a wave of their hand and a friendly “Welcome! Let me know when you’re ready to order”. The menu offers lattes, mochas, espresso, black coffee, several different kinds of teas, and a few drinks that are a little odd to find in a cafe; ale, canned sodas and coffees, numerous bottles of wine, but only pinot noir. Soft music plays in the background, impossible to place but it sounds as if it may be based on tracks that were popular in the early 90s. Tables and booths are set up to seat two to four, with packets of sugar and small containers of creamer set out towards the middle. There are charging stations set up at every table, which may seem strange considering phones and laptops aren’t widely available, but Aurora’s doing her best. There are also a few bookshelves full of the classics, a few historical fiction, and several written by H.P. Lovecraft. Each seat has a placard in front of it, with a name, and a ‘fun fact’. One might say “Hello! My name is Joe, and I like to paint!” Another may say “Hi, I’m Jill! My sister died tragically in front of me and I’ve never gotten over it.” ⏵ new horizons ⏴ Several of the new bridges found in Etraya now have signs posted just outside of them, and on those signs is a QR code that the earpiece’s HUD can scan. Scanning this with the HUD will bring up a scavenger hunt, listing several items and circling areas where they can be found. Some of these objects will be obvious: find Corrine at Corrine’s Cafe - the companion bot who runs the counter, find a delicious meal at Bangsan Market, break into S.T.A.R Labs, or find room 87 at Point Blanc Academy. Some will be less obvious, like locating a bat, becoming friends with an archer, find a pink shirt, open bagged milk without making a mess, or get a drink at the mutant-friendly pub. (She isn't fond of the little cards, but since hers doesn't do any harm (as far as she knows), she lets it be. The coffee is good at least and she lets herself relax. Of course relaxed for her doesn't mean she is letting down her guard. Her dark eyes continue to scan the area around her, puzzling over the faces she doesn't recognize.

Oh and by the way, her card is very simple:

Hello, my name is Padmé and I used to be a Queen; now I am a Senator.

Hopefully it will scare away anyone who is frightened of politicians?

Eventually she will peruse the books and begin to read, her expression changing into one of awe when she comes across the Lovecraftian tomes. What even!)

[ Coming right in-- one guy who is seemingly not deterred by her card at all.. though it might be since this guy has absolutely no idea about how politics work. It helps that his own card is sitting right there on the table she's also sitting at, even though it's turned away from her so only Fabian gets to read it as he sits down.

Whatever might be on there, apparently the young man isn't too fazed by it. He only blinks as he's clearly reading it, but then smiles when he instead turns towards her. ]

Padmé! It's so nice to meet you! [ There's a lot of Extrovert Energy going on here, somewhere between the way he greets her like she's an old friend rather than a total stranger and the huge smile on his face. ] Uh, unless you have some title you'd rather go by?

[ Look, even if the card is clearly implying she's not a queen anymore, just the fact that she has been one has got to mean something. At least enough for Fabian to ask. ]

[ Her white suit is going to need a heroic amount of bleach after everything it went through in the Labyrinth, so Sharon's in civilian gear when she shows up for her mandatory meet and greet at the cafe.

She'd be here anyway. She needs the coffee.

She's sitting at a table for two, sipping from a mug of coffee that smells lightly of cinnamon and cream, idly reading what passes for news from what passes for a newspaper here. The placard in front of her says: Hi, my name is Sharon Carter! Ask me about Dimenson Z!

Or perhaps: My name is Sharon Carter and I'm on a mission to find the best cheeseburger in the world.

Either of which are better than the note that appeared only once, before she ripped it to shreds: My name is Sharon Carter and I killed Captain America.

It's fine. It was a time bullet, and he got better. ]

I'm not counting this as a contender for the best cheeseburger in the world. It's not even the best cheeseburger in my world.

Why does every song they're playing sound like Muzak? Couldn't they import a radio station along with the rest of us?

[ The remnants of a ripped placard is what catches his eye first, and then the name 'Carter' on the remaining one. She doesn't look like the Sharon he knows, but the name is enough to make him stop by her table. ]

[ It doesn't take too long for Sharon to be joined by someone. There was already a sign that it'd happen, anyway, since there was a card set out on the other side of the table for two she's sitting on, even if its owner is still missing. The card simply reads 'My name is Fabian Aramais Seacaster, and my father is a pirate!'

Its owner shows up a few moments later, holding a steaming cup of coffee. It's a young man - a teenager, really - with rather odd pointy ears poking out of his hair and a golden tattoo reading 'Maximum legend' on his neck. His demeanour seems very youthful and energetic though, especially as a grin spreads across his face when he finds the card and the table, just dropping right down on the chair opposite Sharon's own. ]

[ He seems entirely unbothered by the text of his own card, instead reading her own, before adding: ]

--Sharon! Nice to meet you! Do you want to be asked about Dimension Z?

I. HIDING HOLE

[ She's tired. For the first few days after the Labyrinth, nobody saw hide nor hair of her, she locked herself in her room and even if people knocked, she'd keep herself hidden. It doesn't help anything, but it was a brief respite where she's allowed to hide from everything. It's the third day afterward that she starts to show herself the slightest bit more.

You might find her in the lobby, her hair a mess, bags heavy under her eyes, walking back with bags full of groceries. She's stuck in her own head. Barely awake. And that's why she runs into someone and drops her bags. Which, of course, contain nothing all that exciting beyond junk food. Soda, snacks, some boxes of instant ramen and cereal. Nothing that's complicated to assemble. It has all the marks of a teenager suddenly being responsible for herself after a lifetime spent in a pressure cooker. ]

Ah - sorry. [Quiet. Shy. She doesn't look at whoever she bumped into.]

II. COFFEE

[ She hates this. There's plenty of things that catch her eye - drinks, pastries, the food options. But the forced social interaction is enough to make her wish Scion had genuinely just fucking killed her. Then again, apparently that wouldn't save her.

Amy sits rather glumly, out of place and too awkward to approach anyone, with a selection of different cards in front of her.

Hi, I'm Amelia Lavere! My dad was a famous supervillain!

She would have balked at that once upon a time, ripped it apart and cried. Now? She can't fully bring herself to care if anyone knows.

Hi, I'm Amy Dallon! I accidentally saved the human race!

That one. That one gets a grimace. But she doesn't get rid of it. She's not even sure she fully agrees with it - she's certainly sure that she shouldn't get the fucking credit. But she puts it down after looking at it, and stares at her coffee.

Hi, I'm Amy! I'm -

That's all the next one shows anymore. She ripped the rest of it up with a sour, hateful expression, and pocketed the shredded pieces. If anyone looks at her while she does this, they'll get a slightly challenging glower.

Regardless of what card sits in front of her though, she starts each encounter with a murmur.]

[ Steve doesn’t like the sound of a mandatory coffee hour, but he figures he should go see what it’s about at least.

A mostly untouched cup of black coffee sits at his elbow as he draws on a napkin, rough little sketches of Etraya’s new buildings and animals. He had dressed down and trimmed the beard that had grown during the weeks in the maze, making him less immediately recognizable.

The placard in front of him reads: Hi, my name is Steve and I love long naps.

Or sometimes My name is Steve Rogers and I don’t believe in parachutes. ]

[ If you’re a morning person, you might see a big blond blur sprint past every day like clockwork, before sunrise. Steve is also a common sight at Diner, putting away supersoldier-sized meals, and can be found in the evenings by the pool table at Harry’s Hideaway. ]

[ Sam stops by the table to read the placards, finds one that is probably hers— My name is Sam and I'm internet famous.— and rolls her eyes as she drops into the indicated seat. She doesn't immediately recognize the man already seated there, drawing quietly; he is far less obvious without the red, white, and blue shield. She strikes a conversation anyway, hoping to steer away from any questions about her infamy. ]

I can't nap that long. I always wake up feeling disoriented.

Izuku regularly works out without using his power in order to strengthen his muscles for when he does. The stronger he is, the more of his Quirk he can use without strain. He rises early both because he was a high school student who had to and because he's the dutiful sort. Today he's taking a peaceful jog in a T-shirt and basketball shorts. Jogging helps clear his thoughts. The trials of the maze, the pain he put himself through, and the constant worry about home--

A big blond blur passes him on his left.

"All Might?!" he blurts out his teacher's name. No, not possible. With his condition, he shouldn't be zipping around like that. Nevertheless, Izuku activates his power with an arc of harmless sparks and leaps forward to catch up. Super strength means super speed. He keeps himself around the comfortable velocity of a speeding car.

"Um--sorry--I mistook you for someone else!"

[Peter had been on the lookout for familiar faces, and there's very few that are more recognizable than Captain America.

It's weird how some things kind of take you right back into a terrible moment, you know?

One second, he's here in Etraya, and the next he's on an obliterated battlefield, choking back tears and watching one of the few adult figures left in his life take his final breaths as a hero. He remembers Captain America had been there -- vaguely, as Rhodey squeezed his shoulder and allowed him to grieve, he had caught the sight of Steve processing his own quiet, tearful loss.

That was the first time they'd met 'unmasked'... The second time he'd met him was a funeral, and Peter Parker had not done much better there, either.

Snapping out of his unexpected haze, he realizes he's standing in front of Steve's table a beat too long, an embarrassing deer in the headlights. Instead offers a small, unsure wave.]

... Um. Hey, Cap.

I don't think it is right, [ she offers, by way of hello, hi, i've missed you, it's so good to see you here, i have so much to tell you, seeming casual and at ease if not for the way her fingers are white knuckling her coffee cup. luckily she didn't get a to go cup because she would have crushed that.

her chest aches at holding it all back but she can't just dump everything on steve immediately, she shouldn't dump it on him at all. ]

Not using a parachute doesn't mean you don't believe in the concept of them.

[ When Krouse comes to the coffee shop and finds his placard - whatever embarrassing or horrifying thing it may have to say about him - he'll find that whoever owns the placard across from him is similarly doomed to have his secrets spilled by whatever entity is in charge here. In crisp black font against the expensive cardstock, it reads: Hi! My name is Riz Gukgak and in Freshman Year I shot off my classmates fingers!

Almost on cue, one of this place's few visible non-humans enters the coffee shop; it's difficult to miss Riz with his green skin, short stature and large ears, though his more animalistic qualities seem more or less balanced out by the fact that he looks even more civilized than many of the humans here, his tidy little outfit of a tie, waistcoat and trousers complete with a briefcase swinging by his side, dress shoes clicking against the linoleum flooring. He has a sword swinging by his side and a gun tucked into his shoulder holster too but after the labyrinth, Riz thinks that should be customary in everyone's kits by now.

He goes to the counter and gets a frankly unwisely large cup of coffee - clearly big even for a bigger race; he can barely wrap his hand around it - and as he scans the room for a place to sit, his eyes flit over his name card and what's written on it.

His mouth turns down in a fanged grimace. ] Aw, man. [ He doesn't look too horrified, honestly. Just inconvenienced. ] That's rude.

[ He sets his coffee down and reaches over for the card. ]

Here, I'm just gonna...

[ Crumple that up and stuff it into his pocket. He's not nearly as ashamed of what he did as he should have been, but he's not about to advertise it either. ]

So she's going to sit on her table and chug her coffee. The third one. More of a frappe, to be honest. A espresso with too much cream, because fuck Starbucks or whatever. Whatever.

Never you mind that she's apparently forced to be here. She would have come either way, but hey, if they have a schedule and all...fuck it.

Coffee it is. She almost looks not annoyed. ]

They don't even have bagels.

[ I'm Sam and I killed my ex-boyfriend. And his sister. And his dad. Sam scowls as she brings her coffee over to join Tara. Her fucked up little placard had her seated on the opposite side of the coffee shop; Sam picks it up and drops it on the table next to Tara's, flipping both over so no one else can read them. ]

They wouldn't be New York bagels, anyway.

Coffee Break

[Thus far, Accelerator has avoided the coffee mingle hours. The idea of forced socializing is a nightmare to him, and even though there's the claim that it's mandatory he hasn't suffered any punishment for not attending, so he's going to keep that up for as long as possible.

He only stops by the new cafe to get an occasional coffee, when he's craving caffeine and it's more convenient than going to Kwik Trip for the canned stuff. That's why he's in here today, heading straight for the counter to order a black coffee and then promptly leave. Unfortunately for him, his plan is derailed when he notices a placard on a table in front of an empty seat. It says:

'Hi! I go by Accelerator! I'm 15 and run a sovereign city-state comprised of 2.3 million people!'

Or maybe:

'Hi! I go by Accelerator! I've been found guilty of 36, 025 charges, with over 10, 000 counts of first degree murder!'

Scowling, he stomps on over to the placard and rips it off the table, crumpling it up in his free hand.]

Tche.

[It isn't that he doesn't want that information known, he tries to be upfront about being the Board Chairman and a criminal, but he wants no part of this stupid mingle.]

Target Practice

[Later on, Accelerator can be found a bit of a ways away from any of the buildings, a handgun stuck in his belt and a shopping bag in his free hand. Aurora has afforded him some ammo, and it's been about a month since he's used a firearm, so he may as well practice. Now that he has the weapon, he doesn't have to solely rely on his esper ability in dangerous situations like the labyrinth.

After finding an old log that he kicks over to a good spot, dropping the bag to the ground. Slowly, he starts picking out empty coffee cans, setting them up on the log as an impromptu shooting range. It isn't ideal, he'd prefer the setup he had back in Academy City with its moving targets and safety precautions, but it'll have to do for now. Once he's finished he grabs the shopping back and moves away to an appropriate distance for target practice.

There'll be loud bangs! echoing through Etraya as he practices.]

[... Says a familiar nasally, condescending voice from behind Accelerator. It's Marik, smirking as he sips his cup of tea, having finished ordering a bit ahead and was looking for a place to sit when he spotted the other teen.]

Did you destroy that much in the maze?

[He knows the nameplate isn't referring to that but.

He's a piece of shit.]

[ The coffee break is 'mandatory' but Aurora never said she had to be there the entire time. Kyra slides in late, orders a latte and a slice of soufflé-style cheesecake, and takes a seat at a table out of the way. Like most of the others, she looks exhausted and has some minor, still-healing wounds. She cups her mug in her hands and just relishes the warmth.

There's a placard in front of her, something innocuous enough that she doesn't bother putting in the effort to throw it away. (She's still a little proud of it.)

"My name is Kyra and I hacked the Japanese stock market for fun."

Even though she's tired, she's not inattentive. Anyone who lingers nearby too long will get a look that says 'if you're here to bother me, don't.' ]

[ Kyra is here because she's nosy, not because she's here to hang out with other teens. She'll unabashedly go anywhere that's public, whether someone else is using the area or not. She and Alex don't have a lot of resources to work with, so if there's something here that's useful, it might be worth coming every so often. Even if that means socializing (which is Alex's realm, not hers).

And if the leaderboards on all of the games suddenly have "K7" as the top scorer, well, she needed to unwind a little. In fact, she might be a little more open to socializing during a multiplayer gaming session. Just don't expect her to go easy on you. ]

[ Adaine isn't a gamer. She's hung out with gamer boys back in AV Club, and they were all far too incel-tious for her tastes. One of them even tried to kill her and her friends and trap them all inside magical arcade games. So, maybe, video games have just left a bad taste in her mouth.

But... The video games here at Kate's hangout aren't bad. Some of them are actually rather interesting to watch. Just watch. She's not sure she's ready to pick up a controller just yet. She's happy to sit at the far edge of the room with a magazine, half paying attention to the pages and half paying attention to the racing game that this girl is playing— and she's playing it very well.

As Kyra crosses the finish line for a final time, her name once again topping the leader board, Adaine finally speaks up. ]

Izuku arrives at the cafe at the appointed time in a T-shirt that reads "T-shirt", some basketball shorts, and his ever-present red sneakers. He orders a boba tea, and quickly steals his own placard which reads "Hi, I'm Izuku Midoriya, and I'm often covered in blood".

He's walking around clutching it and the tea when he spots someone who looks a little too satisfied, considering what the maze put them all through. Maybe his coffee is just that good?

"'Got mauled by a--' Wait, are you all right??"

[it is just a little over a week later, sometime in the evening when octavia stumbles out of the labyrinth exit. she doesn't know how long it's been but she's still pretty bruised, injured, and covered in blood and grime from endless challenges and monster encounters in the maze's depths as she searched for the exit.

it felt like stepping into the stories she had read during her childhood from being able to see and fight some of the mythological creatures in the flesh and living to tell the tale was exhilarating and exactly what she needed to let off some steam. it was hard to believe she finally made it out but despite all her injuries and how she was in desperate need of a shower, she can't help the smile that spreads across her face as she moves forward, taking in a deep breathe as she walks further into the open grassy field]

That was amazing! [she practically shouts loud enough for anyone nearby to overhear her very unpopular opinion but she doesn't care what anyone else thinks. she is all too aware of it and maybe the appeal of the labyrinth is the fact she's more connected to her brother and the stories she's read growing up but it really does make her miss him again because really who else would understand her excitement over this?]

[the next day after getting some rest and getting cleaned up with a fresh new set of clothes, she heads to corrine's cafe for the mandatory coffee hour. she is tempted to just ignore the invite but it is out of curiosity, she ends up attending to see what this was all about. if she happens to attend subsequent mandatory coffee hour times, her priorities are simply in wanting to sample all the food and drinks. she seats herself at one of the available tables, each time picking different items off the menu to try something new given she has that option and choice available to her.

she isn't too thrilled with her placard that's in front but before she knocks it down or tries to write over it with a marker to make it illegible, it might read the following:

[ It likely goes without saying that at least a few cafe patrons have grown nosy about the various placards set about, and Mizuki is certainly one of them. Her eyes scan over 'Hello, I'm Octavia and I saved what remains of the human race!' which is enough to give her pause.

[Peter hadn't been here for very long, but he's starting to see how the place likes to do little things to mess with you. The coffee shop thing is apparently mandatory (are we going to fight bad guys in a coffee shop, or what?), so Peter goes to scope things out, see if there's anything he needs to do to help out the others. When he walks in, he can't help but smell doughnuts and coffee; he swears he almost hears Ned and MJ arguing about what would be easiest to achieve to get in the Guinness Book of World Records.

No such luck. Or rather, maybe it's good luck, for once — he wants them to go to school and find some happiness, not end up in another universe-bending crapshow. That's why he'd let them go in the end, isn't it? So that Spider-Man could lay off and stop giving them reasons to need band-aids. Peter sits down awkwardly at one of the tables, fidgeting with a packet of sugar as a cup of coffee is set down in front of him.]

Oh, thanks... [He squints at the bot, looking for a nametag. There is none.] Bot-man.

[He goes to sip his coffee, when he takes notice of his name card — and proceeds to choke on his drink.]

Hello, I'm Peter Parker, and I have no family, friends, or money. :(

[His hand slaps down on the card, maybe a little too hard with his strength; the noise rattles the table and is loud enough to hush part of the room.]

... Sorry. Sorry, my bad. There was a fly. Near the the Danishes...

[He wilts back down into his chair, looking properly chagrined as he tries to sip from his cup again.]

[The less he thinks about that morning, the better! Say, you know what will get his mind off things? Swinging around and checking out all of the huge buildings around here! This place still has nothing on New York when it comes to massive skyscrapers, but he can make do with what he's got to work with. Besides, look at these places! Towers! Manors! Institutes! How can he not crawl all over them like a big red and blue bug? Anyone who goes out to investigate the weird guy crawling across the wall may be greeted with a friendly wave of his hand.]

[ The quip comes from a tired but half-smiling teenager, sporting a healing scrape over his left cheek and a red hoodie at least two sizes too big for his lanky frame. He didn't flinch at the clatter of the table, which is one of those small details he always regrets not catching right when it's a little too late to do anything about.

It probably doesn't matter. Whoever Mr. Crushed Name Card is, he's not in a state to be paying much attention to miscellaneous tells from total strangers. Krouse leans forward, balancing his weight on the balls of his feet, and his half-smile tilts wry.

[ He slides into the seat across from the anti-fly guy, favouring his left arm, and sets his coffee down on the table. ]

( the coffee hour had piqued her curiosity, elisabeth knowing that she'd need other's help to learn her way around this new place, but also to find out what they knew. the brightness of the shop takes her back a little, elisabeth cautious as she looks over the menu. she'd thought to order a tea before realising that she had no money here.

so instead, she steps away from the queue, looking over the various cards on the tables, an amused expression on her face as she reads some of the introductions. and hers? my name is elisabeth and i enjoy late night walks. )

( after the cafe elisabeth had taken to the streets by the apartment to see what else was there, explore the new city as it were. the first thing that catches her attention is roxx, finding the look of a clothing store familiar even if what's inside it certainly isn't, her eyes widening a little as she tries to imagine how some of the garments would be worn. and certainly not expecting that if she went inside she might even find something to her taste.

later in the day, she ends up back at the apartments, her first time finding the room that she'd been "given", though when she sees someone else already in the room she stops quickly before walking any further in, lingering in the doorway )

[Hannibal dislikes the apartment building. he still kept the apartment that was given to him when he arrived to use it as a sort of office space in case people took him up on some therapy. he would, occasionally, step into apartments left unlocked to inspect them quietly.

this is one of those times. he'd been quick, as the area had little personal belongings (if any) and he concluded no one had been assigned to it yet. she's coming in and he'd been on his way out. he somehow makes the intrusion look natural, flashing a disarming smile at the woman before him.]

No, I must apologize. I believe I'm on the wrong floor.

[what an easy lie that leaves his lips. he steps aside for her, motioning for her to come inside in a gentlemanly way.]

Coffee Break

[ This isn’t where he’s supposed to be. The lines are too clean, too sharp, the glass too bright. Carver stands tall in bloodstained blacks, proud in his uniform—such as it is. He refuses to drop his ratty jacket but he’s swapped his worn boots for a new pair and the pants he’s wearing are so clean and new they’ve never been patched. Never had anything die on them.

Funny, that.

He’s crammed himself in a corner where he can watch everything, and everyone, holding a mug of black coffee with a narrow-eyed defensiveness. He’s wearing sap gloves and there’s a hunting knife sheathed openly at his hip. This is mandatory, apparently.

He has, secretly, stolen one of the books off the shelf and has it tucked into his jacket. But that’s his business and no one else’s. But there’s a placard set out with a single printed sentence: Hi, my name’s Brandon! I served in the Valley of Death.

The look he gives his conversation partner isn’t gentle. ]

[ she doesn't have a card since she was not required to be here, but she plucks up his placard, flips it over and scribbles in a very lovely, old lady style cursive: Hi, my name is Willa. I served in World War I. she tucks the pen back in her hair when she's done. ]

Mizuki does end up arriving at the cafe, regardless of if she felt the need to comply or curiosity from awakening in a wholly unfamiliar town. She slips in quietly, careful not to draw any attention to herself, passing by others and tables; she's a small girl who may (or may not) be easily overlooked, in spite of the metal pipe that hangs off the backpack she wears. At first, she's here to simply people watch, but the allure of ground coffee beans wafting through the air eventually catches her attention...

But once she's staring at the menu, Mizuki scowls. ]

What's the difference between any of these, anyway...

[ Looks like an inexperienced coffee drinker is present. ]


[ Alternatively, after eventually settling on an order—something simple, yet sweet, and of course with whipped cream on top—Mizuki goes to take her seat, naturally with a placard of her own:

"Hello! My name is Mizuki, and I could benchpress you!" ]

... Whatever. I guess it can stay.

[ So, where are you today? In any given open location, wherever that may be, suddenly an unfamiliar figure will be walking through. Weren't expecting company? Well, now you have it.

Mizuki pauses, looks around, then folds her arms. ]

[ Sandalphon happens to be milling around, for where there is coffee, there he will be — or something like that. Curiously, he seems to have arrived with his own rather fancy cup and saucer. Nothing in this establishment looks like what he's carrying, yet steam and the rich aroma of a unique blend waft from his cup just the same.

As she appears perplexed by the offerings on the menu, he doesn't hesitate to offer his assistance. ]
