MISSION 009
![]() ⏵ CAMP ETRAYA ⏴ On May 16th, Aurora and the companion bots direct those not heading off to Solmara to make their way to Camp Etraya. Nestled away from everything else in a large clearing full of wildflowers and redwoods, Camp Etraya is a nostalgic summer camp experience put together just for it's residents! Cabins are assigned, scary stories are told around campfires, gossiping happens among friends on the trails surrounding the cabins - and don't be surprised when something goes awry. After all, this is still Etraya. While the rest of Etraya is still accessible and will not be blocked off, characters are discouraged from venturing far from camp for too long: Aurora will specify that they are on a mission, and that missions do require participation, but she has intentionally left them the freedom to wander. Not sleeping in their assigned cabins, not participating in events, and staying away from Camp Etraya will end with her having to take more extensive security measures, so please be on your best behavior! The last thing she wants to do is start enforcing boundaries, but she will if she has to. Camp is set up much like your generic summer camp! Each cabin is named, housing is assigned to characters as they arrive, there are camp counselors, and rotating daily tasks and chores. There are also multiple activities that characters are expected to participate in, and each activity is worth points that goes toward their camp graduation score. This score will be visible on their earpiece, and follows the A-F grading system. We are not be monitoring this, and are leaving character scores up to players. We do, however, ask that you please report your characters' camp grade HERE for rewards and demerits to be handed out after the mission itself. Cabin assignments can be found here, which also has their roles, and chores assigned to that cabin. Those who are participating in Solmara have received an assigned cabin, too, but their absence toward the beginning will not harm the cabin's ability to compete given how spread out their assignments are. ![]() ⏵ WELCOME TO CAMP ⏴ Camp life is meant to instill a sense of belonging, connection with nature, encouragement towards the creative, all on top of a firm foundation of responsibility. Upon arriving, campers will be escorted towards a table of white t-shirts and countless buckets of dye! Each Etrayan will be invited to make three Tie-Dyed shirts- as well as required to wear one as part of their summer uniform. Camp counselors must wear 80s basketball shorts or cut-off jeans. Campers may wear cargo shorts or a skort. For those with physical limitations to what they can wear, accommodations will be provided. Here, bonding is the camp runners' priority. They will be pushed into various ice-breaker activities, such as trust falls, two truths and a lie, and Never have I Ever. As the sun goes down, there will be weenies roasting over the bonfire, followed by s’mores and a sing-a-long! With the stars well-visible, it’s off to bed with campers. Each day after will start much the same: with the ringing of the bell and raising of the flag (Aurora, while unfamiliar with flag designs but an understanding of the concept, has chosen a rainbow flag for the camp. Rainbows make people happy, right?), followed by a meal at the Great Hall, morning assembly, activities with counselors, chores, free time, and then an evening winding down by the great fire. An hour after sun down, campers will be escorted back to their cabins for curfew. Camp Counselors are expected to keep track of their campers, and ensure they're all within their cabins for bedtime. This is part of their grade, too! Curfew lifts an hour before the first bell. ![]() ⏵ CAMP ACTIVITIES ⏴ As with most summer camps, Camp Etraya offers a wide variety of activities to participate in. While some of these activities may be mandatory, others are optional. We'll be leaving this up to individual player discretion: perhaps Viktor is mandated to report to arts and crafts, whilst it's optional for Silco to show. Silco, on the other hand, may be mandated to report to the archery contest. Characters are encouraged to participate in a minimum of one camp activity per day. Below is a non-exhaustive list of camp activities.
![]() ⏵ NIGHT TIME ⏴ Once campers have been put to bed, the counselors can still stay up. Unwind with hidden beers and the strumming of a guitar. Don’t get too comfortable, though, since without supervision, no one is keeping the campers in bed. After dark, should campers evade their counselors, they can go exploring in the dark. Eerie lights glimmer from the lake. There’s rumors of a headless spectre walking from the archery field to the edge of the forest. Should you behave, you still might hear a scratching at your bunk house window. And on the very last night of camp, there will be a talent show. Show off your hidden talent and bask in the excitement of wowing your fellow campers! Welcome to Camp Etraya! Please enjoy the s'mores and campfire songs. :) Camp will last approximately two weeks, going from May 16th to May 30th. For all questions relating to this mission, please refer to the plotting post. All other questions can be directed to the FAQ. |

There was another mission according to Aurora's post, but Fio tends to have a difficult time following along when given too many details at once. Far too many words that she doesn't understand. The most she's garnered from it is that there's another city called Solmara and that a small team was recruited to travel there. She's not too sure if Scott was part of it, but she did notice some campers being absent early on in the week. ]
...S'mores, huh. I think I get it. Funny name. Yeah, it's my first time trying a... s'more. Lots of stuff in summer camp is pretty new to me.
[ If it's really good, then she's just about to find out. She reaches over to grab a skewer, then looks over, studying Scott for a moment. It is difficult to see the wariness past his shades. As much as she wants to spend the remainder of the night with a friend, she feels a bit guilty letting him stick around if he's tired. ]
Scott, are you sleepy? If you wanna sleep, you should go back to your cabin.
sorry for the late!
[He's a little sorry for missing the first few days of that... hopefully someone here showed her the ropes of doing the important things in camp. Like. TPing the cabins. Okay, fine, stuff like doing crafts and participating in some of the 'activities' that this camp has set up for everyone. He honestly hopes that she's had a good time so far. What? He's not a monster.
And if not, guess they'll just have to make it up in s'mores.
Her question almost gets the teen to sit up a bit more, trying not to show how exhausted he really is. It really is okay! She doesn't have to worry about him. Scott shakes his head a little, trying to smile through everything and letting his marshmallow warm up in the fire.]
And miss out on eating s'mores with you? Don't worry, I'll be fine. Besides, gotta make sure that you get the full experience eating this.
no worries!!
Oh... mmhmm. I've been having a good time. I learned how to paddle a boat and... I got to shoot a bow and arrow. It was kind of a toughie, but I had fun. [ A small smile. The two activities just showed how lacking she is in physical strength. ] Then I learned how to make friendship bracelets and little pretty paper crafts called origami.
[ Sadly, Fio would have been against the summer camp tradition of "TPing" cabins. Not just because she's a counselor, but also because she's not the type of child interested in participating in mischief. It's been a mix of enjoyable experiences and difficult ones, since she had been given the role of responsibility. She could have easily rejected the position, by simply ignoring it and behaving more like an ordinary girl without thinking that their worlds' fate is on line. ]
...Miss Aurora gave me the job of counselor, so I gotta make sure you're feeling okay.
[ Not only that, it's because she is a fellow cool friend. Although, that wouldn't matter much either. Fio displays concern for just about anyone, no matter how well she knows them. She knows that look of smiling despite everything... it's something she does a lot herself.
After observing Scott's marshmallow for a moment, she does the same with her own, letting it warm up over the fire. It really should have been the other way around, with her being a camper instead. ]

[Heh, so she's been enjoying herself. Well, good. He really is glad to hear that. One actual thing to be glad about after coming back from Solmara. Things really feel less complicated, less stressful, when he's talking to Fio like this over the campfire and thus he's pretty grateful for this easy conversation. Just hearing about her adventures at camp so far, like... a brother or something. Yeah.
He's
ironicallynever been an older brother type before.Although, he has no idea why she was picked as a counselor for this camp. Whatever. Aurora just doing whatever she sees fit. He's getting to understand that part of this whole mess.]
Don't worry, you're doing a good job. [...] Tell you what, the moment I yawn, you can kick my butt to bed.
[Now he's determined not to yawn..... might be a hard task, especially as he finds himself getting sleepier and sleepier with the tension leaving his body. But. Remember the s'mores.] Do you have your graham cracker and chocolate ready?
no subject
[ On another day, after s'mores and when he's more rested up.
It's nice having someone listen to her chatter about the less troubling, peaceful parts of her day. She used to do the same with her parents. The more loving moments between her family is a bit of a blur now. They became less interested in listening to her accomplishments when she grew to the age capable of discerning that she looked nothing like them. And having been an only child, she's always wanted a brother or sister. Her old world—her reality, was both painful and too lonely. The only way to get away from it all was through dreaming. ]
Um... I don't really wanna kick you...
[ A head shake, grinning a little. Hopefully kicking his butt part is a joke. She's hardly aggressive or strict in the first place... this is why campers can easily escape her and break curfew. ]
Graham cracker and chocolate, check. [ She holds up both items with her other hand. ]

[Not that he's super excited to try his hand at origami again, but... sure, why not. It sort of will help put his mind on something else, other than all the stuff he's dealing with. A break from mutant shit. Yeah, that honestly sounds great right about now, just folding a paper in complex ways until he gets a bird out of it. Why not. Plus, it seems that Fio is interested in showing him something like that.]
It's a saying, don't worry about actually doing it. [Kicking? Definitely not. But can he imagine Fio putting her hands on her hips and sternly telling him to go to bed? Maybe. Letting a small girl potentially boss him around... it's fine. He really doesn't plan on giving her a hard time.]
Okay, let's get a plate. Then it's graham cracker, chocolate, hot marshmallow, and then cracker again.
no subject
Just tell me what kind of origami you wanna make and I'll help you out.
[ She cracks a small smile at being called an origami "expert". Far from that, she thinks. But it does make her feel like she's being useful as a counselor, even if she's not the one quite in charge of managing the crafts corner. She would be the most patient teacher. Scott could make the most disheveled little bird and she would still think it's lovely... ]
Okay. So, graham cracker, chocolate, hot marshmallow, cracker... [ She reaches for a plate, murmuring the steps over and over in a singsong way like a little incantation. ]

[He'll probably end up making a slightly crumpled looking little bird... but a bird nonetheless. And he'll probably end up giving it to her as a 'thank you' gift. Of course if he makes more than one, maybe it wouldn't hurt just to keep it for himself. Something to decorate his mostly flat room back in the mansion.
But as she starts getting her s'more ready, he will as well, putting the ingredients on the plate in the exact order that he mentioned. Well, until the marshmallow bit. Once she's ready with hers, he nods at Fio.]
Okay, here comes the slightly tricky part... you want to get the marshmallow on top of the chocolate, and then you squish the cracker over it.
no subject
But now, her focus is set on making the perfect s'more. As instructed, Fio takes her skewer and layers the marshmallow on top of the chocolate. ]
Woah! [ She squishes the graham cracker on top. Smiling, easily amused. Not just a s'more, but it's the first time for her too to ever have a marshmallow. She was surprised how fluffy it was at first... now it's all melting and oozing. ] It's really squishy now!
no subject
[With his s'more ready, Scott nods at Fio before bringing his own snack closer to his mouth. While it may be obvious what the mutant is about to say next, he can't help but make a big deal out of it-- grinning and giving her one final instruction.]
You bite into it.
[And predictably... chomp. Don't mind the mess, it's all part of the fun. The Experience.]
