[Kirk sees that hand hovering over the belt. Reaching for his own batarangs? Some smoke pellets perhaps? Whatever’s in the belt, it’s annoying how similar their basic tactics are. This other Batman is either holding back, just a well-trained human, or both. Kirk can see that Bruce doesn’t move like the goons he’s fought countless times. He’s too good to be that.

Kirk throws three more batarangs before charging forward again]

[ Three.

He counts them while they cut through the air toward him, sharp and vicious. He'd have to time this right or risk being carved open. The first he dodges cleanly, the second catches him, slices through the kevlar and opening a shallow line across the skin underneath. It hurts, but Bruce files that pain away.

The third comes quickly. Bruce twists out of its path, letting it pass just enough to feel the whip of air across his face. And then he moves - direct, controlled. Movements tight and balanced despite the pain he's in. His hand still hovers near his belt, drawing the bolas from their place when Kirk is range. He's fast with them, precise as he throws them, aimed at Kirk's legs. They won't hold forever. Kirk is too strong for that. But Bruce doesn't need forever.

He just needs enough time to vanish. ]

[Bruce is fast for a human. Kirk will give him that much credit at least. Bruce's abilities to dodge and counter aren't too bad either. Kirk just barely sidesteps the bolas before attempting to punch Bruce right where the ripped kevlar is]

[ The punch lands because Bruce intends for it to. He uses Kirk's momentum against him, using his closeness to grab for his wrist. If he gets the grip, he spins them both with practiced precision, redirecting Kirk's force until he can send him careening into the nearby wall. ]

[The counter works just fine for Kirk. While pretending to try and break Bruce’s grip, he leaves behind a tracker below Bruce’s elbow. Pretending that he can’t break Bruce’s grip, Kirk then goes along with the spin and gets thrown to the wall.

His body slackens to lessen the impact. His back hits the wall and he falls to the ground]

[ It feels like a trick for how easily Kirk follows Bruce's movements.

Breaking his grip shouldn't have been that difficult for someone who dented the kevlar plates in his armor with a glancing kick. That kind of strength doesn't just vanish. And Bruce doesn't doubt for a single second that Kirk could have manhandled him if he really wanted to. So why hadn't he?

It feels like a trap

And Bruce has only a breath to decide if this is a chance to escape or if he's walking into something worse. He's prepared for either outcome and decides to take the risk.

He runs. ]

[It's not until he senses Bruce gone from the premises that Kirk gets back up. Kirk started a fight only so he could plant a tracker and start getting a read on how this particular Batman works. It may have also exposed him to Bruce's analysis and Kirk suspects the tracker will be found soon enough. But he also thinks it was worth it. He needs more data on these other Gothamites.

Now it was just a matter to check on the tracker and see where the intruder would go]

[ Kirk only gets a visual for a few minutes. The tracker pings nearby in one of the empty buildings, a brief flash on the map. And then, it's gone. ]

[Don't mind him as he takes a short flight near that area]

[ The building is empty and there are few signs that anyone has been here recently. But Kirk's senses are keen and he's likely to pick up the scent of a certain Batguy if he's looking for it. ]

[Kirk quietly follows Bruce's scent and his eyes switch to infrared vision. It's almost like break in to another criminal's hideout, except Kirk's aware that Bruce can't be a amateur]

[ There's not much to be found on any of the top floors. Bruce isn't here. But if Kirk follows the scent it winds down into the lower parts of the building and out a window. It goes up again from there. ]

[godsandbats]

[Hmm... this could be a trap but Kirk feels he should keep following now while he can still follow Bruce's scent. He takes flight again]

[theknightshift]

[ It will take him across several buildings but finally stops at one in particular. If Kirk notices, he'll see it's in the direct line of sight of the Tower of Justice. There's nothing the first few floors. But if Kirk keeps following the scent, he'll come across a safehouse. Or at least, one being set up. There's nothing incredibly remarkable here. Just some basic medical supplies, training equipment, and a few boxes of tools and computer parts. ]

[Kirk takes note of sight line to the tower before cautiously heading towards down to the safehouse area. He thinks about adding another tracker just in case]

[ There's no one here to stop you, Kirk. Do it. ]

[godsandbats]

[Once he's sure he's not sensing Bruce's presence, Kirk plants two trackers. One is underneath a table and the other is high up on a corner of the room]

[ Bruce won't be coming back here at least for now. So Kirk can place his devices unhindered. Hopefully this Batman isn't super paranoid or anything. ]
