Ramsey Farm open mingle
WHO: Etrayans!
WHEN: Post-mission.
WHERE: Ramsey Farm.
WHAT: An open mingle log for people to hang out and do stuff at Ramsey Farm. See Accelerator's network post for details.
NOTES\WARNINGS: None, please put any CWs in subjects.

An idyllic, well loved little farm house that looks like it has been transported right from the fields of Kansas. The garden in the front has flowers and the back garden is chock full of vegetables. There is a chicken coop and a bale of hay is strung up from a tree like a tire swing for a little goat's enrichment. There is also a shed in the back, designed to look like a small version of the farm house, with a summer outdoor couch set up shoved against the back wall, piled with all weather cushions, and various lawn and small gardening equipment hung on the front wall. Towards the edge of the grounds, in a patch of large wildflowers, sits a large stone acting as a grave marker. Instead of names, it has been engraved with "#1 - #10 031."
The farm is being used as a safe space for children by Accelerator. Kids under 15 are allowed to use it as they wish. Kids over 15 are allowed to use the space if they help with upkeep. Adults who have been vetted by a kid are allowed on the ground to do work. A security system has been added to the farm house that sends messages to Accelerator's ear piece depending on the threat level.
The goat's name is Mena.

[He's saying that wryly before answering Jayce's question.]
Things that are outside of my scope of understanding aren't a big deal. If I didn't learn about it specifically in school I can still apply scientific laws and theories to figure it out, like valence bond theory. And if it's something that doesn't follow those laws at all then I can come up with an entirely new framework. I just need to observe the phenomena. Then, based off of those observations, I can create new equations that explain it and add those equations into my Personal Reality. I've done it before a few times back home and here in Etraya.
[He takes another sip of coffee, noting the weird furnace noises and eyeing Jayce to see if that's unusual. At the same time, he's analyzing more vector data coming in, specifically looking for growing rates of heat transfer.]
That's why my ability is named after particle accelerators and not acceleration.
it makes* not he makes, lmao
[Jayce says with a quiet laugh and shake of his head. So far everything seems to be working. He can't peak into the combustion chamber or heat exchanger while it's running for obvious reasons, but Accelerator probably would be pointing out by now if anything seemed off.]
Ah, right. Imagine how weird it would be if you were named Acceleration. I don’t think I’d know how to cope with it.
[More teasing, as Jayce wipes his forehead with the back of his wrist.]
Seems like it’s all set. Ideally we’ll get you a new filter since that old one is disgusting. That’s an easy thing to do, you won’t need my help for it.
I didn't even notice lol
[That's all Jayce gets out of him, as Accelerator (just barely) manages to keep a straight face amidst all the teasing.
... Okay, well. He's scowling deeply, but he isn't threatening bodily injury or death. He's only thinking it (along with kicking Jayce in the shin), and keeping his thoughts to himself is basically the same thing for him. It's pretty good progress for him, even if he can't keep his tone from being curt and demanding.]
Where the fuck do I get those? One of the convenience stores?
no subject
[He was expecting the kick and pleasantly surprised he didn't get one! Wow, Accelerator must actually be pretty happy with him right now.
Jayce starts putting the remaining paneling back on, and gives the furnace a pat. It's already pretty hot, but he's got callouses on callouses on his hands.]
You don't even need to remove the panels for this one. Just that slot right there at the bottom, pull it out and slide the new one in.

And hey, he learned something! Ignore him gripping his coffee cup a little too tightly.]
Hmm. [He gives a firm nod, memorizing the instructions for replacing the filter.] I have a lot of points, so that's not a problem.

[Jayce begins to pack up his tools, and flips the switch back to off so the furnace begins to shut down.]
You're all set.
[He seems like he's about to get ready to leave, but then he halts his movement. Looks hard at those stairs again.]
no subject
[There's a 'thank you' on the tip of his tongue, and he chews on his lip, trying to decide whether he wants to open himself up to more teasing.
Thankfully, he notices Jayce staring at the stairs and switches gears, jumping on that instead.]
What?

[Actually, now that he's thinking of it....]
There's a loose floorboard upstairs. You know how to fix that, too?
no subject
[Something something 'Jayce' means 'healer.']
But I am going to need something in return, for all this.

Like what?
no subject
Lunch.
no subject
Like at the fucking diner?

I can get you an egg salad from the 7-11.

no subject
What? What's wrong with egg salad?

[He rolls his eyes. Sheesh.]
If you're gonna be picky I can get you something else. What about a katsu sandwich?
no subject
Yeah, that sounds good. Thanks!
no subject
He lets out an exasperated noise, then starts up the stairs, careful about the problematic one.]
Fine. I'll be back soon.
no subject
By the time Accelerator gets back, he's actually going to be dismantling one of the ceiling fans.]
no subject
When he returns he's got a bag in his free hand, and in it is clearly more than one singular sandwich. As he enters the living room he balks at what Jayce is doing.]
The fuck? What happened to the loose floorboard?
no subject
["Them." Not one.]
And I noticed your ceiling fan takes more than one pull to turn it on, which means a faulty pull chain. I tightened it for now, but it'll go slack again with a few more uses if you don't get it replaced. Just putting it back together now. What's katsu, by the way? I forgot to ask before you left.
no subject
... A breaded cutlet. The one in the sandwich is pork.
[He steps further into the living room, dropping the bag onto the coffee table so he can start pulling stuff out: one katsu sando, one egg sando, two canned coffees (BOSS Black), and some Jagabee potato sticks (butter soy sauce flavour).]
I got you a coffee, too. [But he's mostly still distracted by the ceiling fan.] Do I have to ask Aurora for a new pull chain, too?
