An idyllic, well loved little farm house that looks like it has been transported right from the fields of Kansas. The garden in the front has flowers and the back garden is chock full of vegetables. There is a chicken coop and a bale of hay is strung up from a tree like a tire swing for a little goat's enrichment. There is also a shed in the back, designed to look like a small version of the farm house, with a summer outdoor couch set up shoved against the back wall, piled with all weather cushions, and various lawn and small gardening equipment hung on the front wall. Towards the edge of the grounds, in a patch of large wildflowers, sits a large stone acting as a grave marker. Instead of names, it has been engraved with "#1 - #10 031."

The farm is being used as a safe space for children by Accelerator. Kids under 15 are allowed to use it as they wish. Kids over 15 are allowed to use the space if they help with upkeep. Adults who have been vetted by a kid are allowed on the ground to do work. A security system has been added to the farm house that sends messages to Accelerator's ear piece depending on the threat level.

The goat's name is Mena.

I wanted to verify this was truly a safe place for children. Yet thus far I have found numerous cameras hidden throughout the area.

( points against it, because they aren't damian's cameras. )

[Right, Harold mentioned to him Damian was messing around with the cameras. He sighs.]

I asked for those to be installed. They're security for the area, so leave them alone.

[brat]

You asked someone to stalk the children you've invited to a safe haven.

( it's - deadpan, but the message therein is clear enough: robin isn't pleased with the idea of accelerator using them to follow the kids, even if robin himself would have likely done something similar. )

[levelshift]

[Accelerator just rolls his eyes.]

That's a lot of assumptions you're making based on... how much information do you even have?

[If that's the conclusion Damian is coming to then it must be close to zero, since he's way off-base.]

[brat]

Enough to make reasonable assumptions, obviously.

( whether or not the cameras are meant to keep an eye on the children, that's likely how they are going to be used. )

That's another wrong assumption.

[It's more productive pointing that out, than letting Damian continue to assume wrong things.]

I already said the cameras are being used for the area, not the kids. No one is stalking them.

( for all damian knows, barbara has already hacked her way into the cameras around the farm and is keeping a tally of the children who come in and out. not that she is someone he would be concerned about, but it's a possibility nonetheless.

within the farmhouse, every door is getting opened, and damian's giving each room a cursory glance-through. just in case. )

If anyone is misusing the cameras I'll find out, that's not a problem.

[Really, between himself and Harold they have it covered. He trusts Harold's skills and while he isn't the #3, he's still able to do an absurd amount with the vectors of electrical and other signals.

He's going to hang back while Damian pokes around, leaning against a wall or flopping on the couch whenever he stops to investigate a room. There aren't any cameras inside, only the panic buttons Accelerator had mentioned in his network post that send messages to his earpiece.]

But if you've got suggestions to improve the place I'll take 'em.

[Any ideas to make the farm better are good ones he wants to consider. Damian might be young but Accelerator knows he's still smart and has some experience that could be helpful.]

I'll note them down.

( for later, not for now. there are no cameras, but he still searches through every nook and cranny, checks under furniture, above it, just in case there's something - suspicious. )

Red Hood would be a good resource for setting up the housing unit.

[Suggestions are welcome, they give him something to keep busy with in between missions.

He's going to hang out, watching Damian. There won't be anything unusual in the house, no sketchy bugs or methods of hidden surveillance.]

Red Hood has a vested interest in the well-being of adolescents.

( he assumes that's obvious enough, but damian also knows his relationship with todd isn't - good currently. not that it's an issue, but it does mean he's going to offer further explanation. )

If you want an attack dog who is actually useful and only slightly older than those present, he would be useful. And he is knowledgeable when it comes to fortifying areas.

[levelshift]

If he wants to come work here then he's free to. I'm not gonna force anyone.

[There are tons of adults out there who could not give a single fuck about the wellbeing of kids, and tons more who say they do but are lying. There's no point in pushing anyone, that's just a huge waste of time and effort. If someone wants to help then they'll do it.]

Since it sounds like you know him you can ask him and see if he wants to.

I'll consider it.

( if he decides to bother todd again any time soon, perhaps. he doesn't like the man enough to bother with him frequently. but as it is, damian seems - pleased with his look around the farm, and turns himself around to head back toward the front door. )

[Accelerator doesn't move from where he's sitting, watching Damian.]

( he could offer side-commentary. could add an explanation, approval, or - something else. but damian doesn't.
