plangona and OTA option!
WHEN: Immediately post-fog event.
WHERE: Bramble Valley (various)
WHAT: After being transformed into a xenomorph-like-creature during the fog event, the berserkered Vincent Valentine runs loose and must be stopped.
NOTES\WARNINGS: Threads contain graphic violence, language, and horror-related elements/gore.
- > How it works!
The log is split into two stages. Stage One contains initial tracking and fighting of the vinomorph monster. The creature is unharmed and in its strongest state. Those who are in this group will make initial contact, fight it (most likely), and signal to the second team that it's been found. Stage Two contains the second half of the fight and getting Vincent to revert out of monster form.
Rather than go with a set tagging order, this will be (an attempt at) free-form style. Both teams tag into the scene and act as you see fit, but don't feel the need to tag every round. I will tag when it looks like the thread is ready to move forward. If you want to fight and tag a lot, do it! If you want to stand by and wait for your most epic moment, do it! The goal is to keep the log moving.
Chronologically, the scene goes from Stage One directly into Stage Two, but both threads will be running simultaneously. If you have a great idea and want to try something, feel free to DM me, comment to the plotting post, or ping me on Discord (I'm on the game server as Signal).
Finally, if you want your character to get hurt, you are welcome to get super f'ed up by the creature but no deaths, please! Vincent will feel terrible enough, already.
The Stage One and Stage Two logs are closed. The Aftermath is OTA (including those who participated in the previous stages). You could have been searching/trying to help and arrived after the battle ended. Or want to check on your friends who were involved. Or simply want to see what's going on because you're curious! Maybe you're here to offer treatment to the wounded. You are also welcome to start your own top-levels for all of the mentioned reasons! Consider Vincent K.O.'d at this point. He will also need medical attention (please take care of him).
See STAGE ONE thread for a description of the monster.

As the creature topples, Hernan's fully prepared to drive it further into the dirt, but the sight of Gaia barrelling toward him slows his momentum enough to catch her without hurting her. He takes her outstretched arm and pulls her in close so he could absorb most of the impact. He doesn't bother to ask if she's okay; he just swoops down low enough that he can drop her to the ground safely. Then he's off again, high into the air. ]
Try that again, diablo!

When Scott unleashes his eyebeams, Dwayne decides to stay close to the ground until the blasting ends. He knows better than to get in the way of a powerful spell, after all, and that's what the massive force blasting at the creature looks like to Dwayne.]

Some part of the beam happens to catch a puddle of oil spilled from the mechanisms of the nearby train tracks, and with a flash, a fire races to life, snaking its way along the ground. Clearly, the creature is terrified of fire judging by the way it begins to move with speed in the opposite direction of the spark. ]
{{final round for the monster! get your last hits in. once it escapes, feel free to continue tagging aftermath stuff/check on each other}}

Thanks.
[ Her gratitude is sincere even if there's no word from the man that suggests he's concerned about her welfare. Gaia would choose practical over nicety any day. While the short drop isn't the most gentlemanly delivery, this isn't the time to quibble and he did make it easy for her to land properly under her own power.
Though as he flies away again? ]
Can we not encourage that?
[ Getting flung once is more than enough for her, thank you very much.
The fire is flaring up. Doesn't like fire? She can do fire. With the 'morph in retreat, she takes a stance and begins casting a spell. It's nice to have her abilities coming back; though the fire won't be as formidable as she normally can manage yet in the aftermath of the mission, Gaia manipulates aether into a manifestation of dark fire which surrounds and erupt around the monster.
Her timing is excellent; anyone that chooses a last minute close quarters attack on the xenomorph will find themselves with ample chance to do so still. ]

It's a good thing he does, too, because soon after that, dark fire erupts around the creature, hopefully containing it.

He swoops around, cutting across the creature's path and used his own heat vision to try and corral the creature back toward the other fighters so they could put it down. ]
gg! ❤️
It tries to make a dash forward, but Hernan cuts off its path. The heat vision adds more fuel to the blast from Scott earlier, and the flames are growing higher. No doubt, anyone else in the area might see the bright fire in the night sky or even feel the heat radiating from the area.
The creature is not going to give up, however. A rumbling sound is heard, and the xenomorph mutation dashes toward the incoming trolley that is making its next circuit through the area. Leaping up, the creature grabs onto the side of the trolley, which carries it over the top of the flames. Then, it leaps down onto the street and makes a mad dash into the city, disappearing down an alleyway with a final, echoing cry.
The team has done a significant amount of damage to the creature. Enough that the next group of fighters will be able to use those breaks in its chitin hide to finally end its rampage and save the man trapped within. ]
{{ the creature has moved on. thank you for the epic action scene! feel free to continue tagging to check on/help the injured etc. vincent also has a chirper post if anyone wants to question him about the outcome. }}
falling off the arena edge is a valid way to reset the fi--I MEAN
[ Dammit! All that fire looked like it was going to hold the creature long enough to take it down but it managed to leap clear because of the stupid, bloody trolley!
It's never going to be around when you actually need to get on it. But of course it comes by the second a monster needs to escape from its
much needed beatdownimminent defeat.Gaia forgot about her injury for a moment but it comes back in full, vicious force the moment she tries to move again. Between the wound and the effort against the strain of using her weakened magicks, she drops to a crouch. ]
Ugh!
[ She realizes with frustration she won't be giving chase. In fact she's struggling to keep back the wave of dizziness from knocking her unconscious. There's no way she can cover the wound on her back so she stays in that position and calls out to those nearby; sounding a bit testy. Mostly at herself and having to do so. ]
Can I get some help here?
[ Not that she wouldn't understand many of the others running off after the morph. That's important. ...She even feels guilty for having to call for an assist. But if one is willing to stay back and help her get treatment... ]
no subject
Does anyone here know first aid? Or healing spells? Or...anything that might help?
[Because the only help Dwayne can offer is carrying her to the nearest hospital.]
Moving along~
That and she's been spending the days on Etraya training with her bff the teenaged Sephiroth. But details. The thing here is, she doesn't really have a strong grasp of healing magic, particularly after the fog's effects.
For the moment, whether or not anyone else ends up stepping forward and offering first aid, Gaia looks relieved when Dwayne returns to help her. She wouldn't find fault of course; the more people that go after that monster to take it down, the less chance for new victims there'll be. ]
I can't reach it. [ A small huff of pain. ] Find some cloth, staunch the bleeding? I'll... try to slow it down. If you can help me get... to the hospital.
[ Or whatever healer can be reached. The hammer disappears in a puff of energy. Gaia presses her hands against herself, weaving what limited aether she can collect into time magic to slow the progress of the injury. ]

He loosens his breast plate before throwing his armor to the ground, revealing a flannel shirt underneath. He takes that off and gives it to her.]
Will that work?
no subject
Yes. More or less.
[ There's an awkward pause. Then. ]
So... can you press it against the wound for me?
[ It's that whole 'can't reach it herself without a lot of pain but also she'd struggle to put pressure on it to staunch the bleeding' issue in play. ]
Then... help me up and we'll get to whatever healer or chirurgeon might be closest.
[ She grimaces, hearing the waspishness in her tone and regretting it. ]
I mean... sorry. And thanks. I'd appreciate the help.
no subject
Oh. Right.
[Yeah, she can't reach a wound on her back, can she? He goes behind her to press his shirt into the wound, before reaching with his other hand to help her up.]
Would it be easier if I just carried you?
[That might be faster, and she doesn't look nearly big enough for him to have any difficulties moving with her.]
no subject
One experimental step is really all the answer both need. The look on her face and a slight stumble says it all. ]
Yes. Please.
[ Gaia knows this isn't the time to be prideful. ]
I really should practice healing magicks. Not that it'd help here... I feel drained already.
[ And she shouldn't. It's another thing to grumble about. ]
Thanks. For helping with the fight. And this. I'm Gaia.
no subject
I'm glad to help.
[And he really is. Dwayne loves having a chance to help people out.]
I'm Dwayne.
[Then, with introductions out of the way, Dwayne decides the faster they get to the hospital the better, so he starts picking up his pace, building up to a run before long.]
no subject
Dwayne carrying her is going to make things faster, but it's definitely not going to be a smooth ride.
The dark haired teen will be quiet on the trip and only when delivered to the safety of the hospital will she speak. It might even be testy if Dwayne lingers (more than a few seconds) long. ]
Don't worry about me. Go help the others, if there's anything left to do.
[ She definitely did not miss how the first responders were tackling the problem. And given how many similar types of people there are here, it's only a matter of time before the threat is taken down. She'll be fine on her own (with the companion bots' care). ]
