This ordeal, this trial to survive; closed

WHO: Bucky Barnes ([personal profile] bracchium) and Steve Rogers ([personal profile] pursuitofcappiness)
WHEN: Return to Etraya
WHERE:The hospital
WHAT: Bucky and Steve come back and have a much needed conversation
NOTES\WARNINGS: Likely talks of violence

[As Bucky sets foot back in Etraya, the glamour melts away, the hoods and gloves become skin and bone and reveal a thinned, sallowed Bucky Barnes. His hair is longer than he was last in Etraya, tried half-up behind his head. His brows are furrowed deep as he turns toward Steve. He doesn't run, he doesn't hide, but he takes in the sight of his best friend after several weeks of being mostly hidden beneath magic.

He slowly raises his gaze to Steve's, steel blue sharp and cutting as he expects some kind of confrontation. They've been apart for months and years before that. At least Bucky gets to see Steve's real face now.

He doesn't say anything right out of the gate, choosing silence instead as he waits for Steve to talk.

Maybe to ask questions about his appearance, about his attitude, why he isn't running, or any other number of things. The ball is in his court.

[ The last time they met on Etraya wasn't that long ago, but Bucky is a lot different now than he was then.

He looks over and puts two and two together. Buck said he'd been in service of the other ship for months, and that might explain why he came willingly.

He's got a lot of questions about - the other thing, too. The elephant in the room. The selection, or the culling, this whole process of representing one's whole planet. But - with them, it's always do or die. It's been a mission after mission since 1945, with hardly room to breathe and exist. It's not like he expected them to be like they were when they were boys, before the war, before the Depression.

But maybe they could take a moment.

Glad you're here.

[ He doesn't even try to put up a front; he sounds relieved, like he wasn't sure Bucky wouldn't just take the handkerchief and stay. Like Steve had no idea if he was ever going to see him again. ]
