there's clearly a strange feeling; closed
WHO: Bucky Barnes and Scott Summers
WHEN: Early in the mission
WHERE: Near the base
WHAT: Bucky realizes there's other augmented folks like himself
NOTES\WARNINGS: Possible mentions of violence.
[Bucky doesn't particularly care that he wasn't assigned a team. After the last mission, after months and months of talking to people, he's almost grateful to be allowed to remain at the base. There's a handful of others present as he stands near the door. He's marked himself as a guard and that serves him just fine. He can handle most threats and if it takes another fight, that won't be anything new.
He's scanning the crowd when he realizes he sees someone else with metal. Bucky isn't hiding his metal arm and it seems that this other person isn't hiding either. Maybe he's also someone touched by HYDRA, someone who might have a past similar to his.
He watches from a distance for a bit, before he leans up from the wall and makes his way over.]
Bucky.
[That's his version of an introduction, built up from months on Pollux.]

he's checking a few things in his pack — scrolling through the few usernames he has on his network device to keep tabs on them when he hears someone speaking to him and he looks over, a raised brow before he gives a nod. )
Scott.
( looking back to his pack, he rummages through it a bit. )
You waiting to join your team or planning to stick around here?
no subject
Don't have a team. The base could use some defense.
[Which is why he's here. He turns the question back on Scott.]
Waiting for your team?
no subject
( he gives a bit of a shrug himself. the camp needs people to keep an eye on it and be here should others come back needing supplies, food, or medical attention and while he's not exactly the field medic on his team back home, he knows a thing or two if it comes down to it. )
Can't all be out there leaving this place unattended.
( especially what with the whole light source being important thing. )
no subject
Like Scott.
Bucky crosses his arms and nods again before looking out at those bustling about the base.]
That a uniform?
[Bucky asks of Scott's all-black ensemble. Bucky himself is similarly dressed in black, sans a sleeve on his left arm.]
no subject
( too bad his bike didn't come with him, since he'd been on that and all.
but he's swinging his pack over his shoulder then and eyes the man there with his arm. if he seems unfazed by it, it's because he's used to being around others who are different in every way possible back home. )
Want me to see if they've got one for this place? Could be hideous.
no subject
He nods in answer to Scott's question.]
Probably something to go along with the flora.
no subject
( slight shake of his head with a faint smile on his lips, he he shrugs his pack up on his shoulder a little more and makes his way over to the other side of their current area. )
Well let's just be glad fashion show isn't any sort of requirement for the mission. ( a beat. ) This time anyways.
no subject
Has it ever been a requirement?
[He hasn't been on Etraya that long and prior mission experience with multiple worlds comes from Pollux.]
no subject
( he asks with a glance back over his shoulder, making his way through the camp where most of the supplies seem to be gathered. )
I've sort of been in and out of it a few times.
( why? hell if he knows. )
no subject
A few times?
[Bucky's experience on Pollux has told him that people do leave, but many times?]
no subject
This is my third time here. ( a beat. ) On Etraya. First time was a few months, second was maybe a day or two, and now I'm here again. Maybe third time's the charm, huh?
( a shrug of his shoulder there, he looks back to what they have to work with and... doesn't really see much in the way of uniforms. maybe that's a good thing. )
Before you ask, don't know why I've been brought here and sent back the number of times I've had. Makes me think there's either a glitch in their system or I'm the glitch. ( a huff then, he shakes his head. ) Or maybe they end up missing me for whatever reason. Who's to say.
no subject
[And then he was left behind, which is never a good feeling, but he had enough people pulling him back to Etraya that he's made the transition back.]
no subject
I'm not familiar with it. ( pollux. ) How long were you there for?
no subject
[Bucky pauses to calculate the time at Pollux.]
Nine months total.
[Hence the longer hair partially tied back over one shoulder.]
no subject
I didn't know there were other worlds that could be considered cousins to Etraya.
( seems he's missed out on a few things since his last couple times here. )
How'd you end up back here?
( on etraya. )
no subject
[Some kind of magic that Bucky frankly doesn't understand.]
no subject
( if he had to take a guess. granted, that's all any of them ever seem to do here. guess. )
And you've been back here ever since?
no subject
So far.
[He wouldn't be surprised if something ported him out, but for now he's in Etraya.]
Where were you before all this?
no subject
( one of the more frustrating parts of the times he's been here on etraya and it's not like he's going to get any real answers about it. )
no subject
Home is Earth?
no subject
( to which he gives him a bit of a smile. )
Guessing a version of it is home to you, too, huh?
no subject
[Bucky looks over the supplies again, even as his mind thinks back to what had been home to him: a studio apartment in Bucharest with newspapers covering the windows. He looks back up at Scott and the visor and questions about HYDRA fill his mind again.]
Someone hurt you?
no subject
You mean the visor?
no subject
Lost mine.
no subject
I'm sorry.
( it's genuine in the way he gives it. )
Where I'm from, I was born this way. I'm a mutant. A mutant's abilities typically don't show up until they hit puberty, sometimes a little before, but. Suffice to say, I can't exactly not have something covering my eyes at all times. Ends up being a bad time for everyone otherwise.
( a beat. )
But sometimes that's a good thing.
no subject
Your eyes have to be covered?
no subject
( he grabs a couple bottles of water — tosses one to bucky there. )
Not a beer, but. ( a nod, he's twisting the cap off the water and helps himself to a sip of it before he continues. ) My visor is made up of a special quartz that contains the energy behind my eyes. Without them, I end up blasting anything and everything in my line of sight until I shut my eyes.
( another swig of his water, he shrugs a shoulder. )
Let's just say I had a hell of a time when it first kicked in.
