⏵ character information
name: Junpei Iori
canon: Persona 3 (Reload specifically)
age: 16
canon point: August 31st, right after he's been meeting up with Chidori a couple times and has gotten her name.
history: Canon history can be found here.

Additionally, Junpei will be arriving from the Auriel TDM scenario where he was confused but largely going with the flow. At the talent show, he was more than eager to yap a very exaggerated (and somewhat fabricated) tale of his heroics and show off his (lack of) talent with enthusiastic confidence -- mistakenly believing collecting the ribbons would be some ticket to freedom. He quickly learned otherwise. Having some survival instincts, he decided to make a break for it by claiming he had to relieve his bladder and took off into the woods. The extent of his survival instincts ended there, though.

With no food, no warm clothing, no sense of direction, and no knowledge of how to even build a proper fire -- Junpei relied on the kindness of a few Etrayans to get him safely back to the castle where he did his best to keep the mood light/keep people's spirits up.

abilities:
Junpei's primary ability is being able to summon a Persona -- a physical manifestation of ones inner psyche. At his current canon point, Junpei can summon Hermes which grants him access to:

- agilao; a medium fire attack
- blade of fury; a medium damage sword/slash attack that hits his target up to four times
- torrent shot; a medium pierce attack that hits the target multiple times
- assault dive; a light strike attack
- rakukaja; a support skill that lets him raise a person's 'defense.' This would probably translate to briefly giving the recipient more endurance/stamina in game for maybe 10/15 minutes.
- theurgy; an ultimate attack where Junpei and Hermes team up to unleash a flurry of slash/sword damage. This takes a great deal of stamina from him and can only be accessed under dire circumstances.

Summoning his Persona requires the use of an evoker -- a gun-like object that produces a psychic blast which allows the Persona to materialize. Junpei did not have it on him upon arrival to Auriel so will have to acquire it at a different point in order to access his abilities.

Apart from the Persona, Junpei is relatively decent at doing damage with a long sword. He doesn't hold it properly and uses it more like a baseball bat than anything, but it works when fighting foes that aren't trained in swordsmanship. He would likely get his ass handed to him facing anyone with proper sword skills, haha.

Speaking of baseball, Junpei loves the sport and always dreamed of being a star player. He was in Little League growing up and was actually really good at it -- but would always choke under pressure (less of a skill issue/more of a nerves thing). So he's better than average at catching, throwing, or hitting a projectile with a bat-like object and he's fairly athletic despite bumming around and playing videogames a lot.

personality:
A class clown through and through. Junpei is always there with the jokes or making a fool of himself...finding popularity in his own way by being the comic relief. However, this is more of a front to keep people happy and keep people from looking at him too close. He's a friend to many, but close to none. While Junpei faces the world with a brazen confidence that borders on arrogance at times, the truth is he's deeply insecure and doesn't want to let people know the real him. Feeling inadequate and listless, Junpei is prone to jealousy as evidenced by his response to the P3 protag being chosen as the leader over him, resenting him for much of the early game.

But in spite of this, Junpei has enough maturity to realize when something is a him problem and nothing the other person did. He apologizes to the P3 protag pretty quickly for acting like a dick and while there continues to be some friction between them, Junpei can and does admit when he's wrong. It doesn't stop him from being reckless and hotheaded, however. Junpei is more the sort to act first and think later, which can get him into trouble...especially in battle. Conversely, Junpei has a difficult time getting motivated to do tasks he's not interested in -- like studying, keeping his room neat, etc. His grades suffer as a result.

For as flawed as he is, Junpei can't stand when someone is feeling left out and will go out of his way to include said person. He's seen multiple times in game befriending the 'new kid' at school and this is also shown in how he acts toward Ken Amada when he first moves into the dorm -- going as far as to plan a watermelon splitting party just to give Ken something fun to do/help him feel involved. It's likely the reason he approaches Chidori as well, seeing her consistently alone and out of place.

The thing Junpei wants above all else is to find a purpose. By the end of the game, he's found that purpose in continuing to live after Chidori's sacrifice, but at his current canon point...he's still searching. Being part of SEES gives him meaning, but selfishly he wants recognition for it and feels like he can't really offer anything special to the team. At this point, he's acting as a hero less because it's the right thing to do and more because he wants to feed his ego -- a fragile thing on the verge of crumbling. But his heart is in the right place when it comes to protecting his friends/the people he cares about.

monocaro: yayifications (Portier Crash)
[personal profile] monocaro

⏵ player information
name and pronouns: Chase, she/her
age: 18+
contact: [plurk.com profile] whitespire, tortillasunrise

⏵ character information
name: Monoco
canon: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
age: unknown, ballpark 100+
canon point: Just before the return to Lumière in act 3
history: link
abilities: Gestral - Monoco isn't human. This means he doesn't age the way humans do: he won't die of old age, and when he does die due to physical harm he'll merely be reincarnated once brought back to the Sacred River. As the Sacred River is in the Canvas, however, this is mostly moot. While Gestrals have their own native tongue, Monoco has taken the time and is intelligent enough to learn to communicate with humans in their own language.

Combat - Gestrals view combat as a form of meditation and mediation. As such they are both instinctively drawn and intentionally raised to live for the thrill of the fight. Given Monoco's age and abilities, he is a highly skilled warrior. His preference is to use staffs and staves, though hand-to-hand combat is also in his bestial wheelhouse.

Blue Mage - a quintessential and versatile JRPG job with a twist, Monoco is able to mimic the abilities of monsters called Nevrons in the world via manipulating their chroma through their severed legs, which he keeps with him either tied to his waist or on his back. It is important to note that while he physically transforms into that Nevron, it's only for the duration of the attack and he's not shapeshifting permanently a la Beast Boy or an Animorph. He is also only able to use Nevron legs specifically--for example, he cannot amputate a random creature's leg and and use it to gain their abilities. He must have the leg with him as well.

The nevron legs he has currently are listed here, although he will be unable to use the game breaking ones/extremely powerful ones obtained in Lumiere or the Endless Tower for canon point reasons and in order to not to powergame: Abberation Light, Clair Enfeeble, Création Void, Duallist Storm, Lampmaster Light and Obscur Sword will not be used.

In super simple terms: Monoco can buff his party or damage the enemy in various ways by turning into a monster he's encountered.

personality: Modeled after the Dessendre family dog, Monoco takes on a lot of those character traits: he's loyal to a fault, predictable, and extremely lovable. He's always up for a fight, quick to assess any situation, well-versed in tactics, and is more than happy to give his opinion or advice.

Physical combat is paramount to him and important to constantly engage others in, believing strongly in challenging ones strength and reflexes constantly in order to maintain peak performance. To him, as with all Gestrals, the ability to fight is both a meditative experience and transformative gesture. Be it a friendly duel or a life-or-death situation, Monoco views his opponent as something to be valued and cherished, be it a lesson for him to learn, a moment to teach a rival, or a monster to rip a leg off of and put in his little backpack to add into his repertoire. Where most view fighting as something to be avoided, Monoco views it as the opposite: even verbal fighting has its' use on a rare occasion, though he'd much prefer to bash a few heads in. Fighting and confrontation is needed in all parts of life, and Monoco has merely embraced that more than any human could.

Wise for a Gestral, Monoco is far more observant than he lets on and often uses that to his advantage--he's seen as a scholarly sort among his kind, a little more intelligent than most in the village although it's difficult to ascertain if it's just Monoco himself or his age. While he's ready to jump into a physical altercation at the drop of a hat, the emotional ones he'll quite often take a step back in. He's confident in himself, able to say what he wants when he wants, but he knows others--humans--struggle with that sort of thing. In his opinion, everything can be hashed out with a good scrimmage and humans don't do it nearly often enough. Unless he truly knows someone or has bonded with someone he'll wait until he's asked for guidance and answer earnestly and honestly. However, once he deems a member of the party is close to him (it doesn't take too much) he'll dispense his wisdom freely whether they like it or not. Verso is the prime example of this, getting the brunt of Monoco's observations and opinions. It's important to note that he's (fairly) respectful about things and keeps secrets, and while he says exactly what is on his mind at almost all times and can be blunt he's never purposefully rude. He just has strong feelings about humans not communicating with each other and the problems it often creates, and his best friend and comrade in arms avoids that like the plague so he's seen it quite often.

While Monoco is quite wise, he's also a Gestral in very way shape and form. He's incredibly easy to manipulate and predict--point him to a fun battle, tell him there's going to be some smashing needed and he's there--and he's quick to boast and show off, especially if it's his prowess in the field. Often times his need to look or appear cool gets him into far more trouble than it's worth. He's been kicked out of the Gestral village for an unknown reason, likely because he quite often makes things worse trying to show off his strength. He's not entirely serene and has his shit together--but he's very good at coming across that way because of how serious he takes everything, from casual banter to life or death situations. Like a pet dog, he wears his heart and loyalty on his sleeve and has no problem admitting it.

samples: 1. Midge Maisel - being extremely helpful (and definitely showing off)
2. Renoir Dessendre - A more serious thread, confronting the game's main 'villain'
3. Daenerys - making an extremely cool friend (and trying to be just as cool)

Canon History
  • Mizu was born and survived at least two assassination attempts shortly after birth. Her mother did not.
  • Someone paid Mizu's nurse to hide and to raise Mizu. She grew up on the edge of Kohama until the "bad men" burned down the shack and, it seemed, her mother. Mizu swore revenge.
  • Mizu lived on the streets of Kohama, eating trash, and being bullied by other kids.
  • Mizu became Eiji's apprentice after a meteor crash. Mizu also observed all the techniques of swordsmen who came to Master Eiji for a sword and practiced daily until she mastered their techniques.
  • In time, Mizu left for revenge against Master Eiji's wishes.
  • Mizu reunited with her "mother," who convinced her to get married and settle down. Mizu married Mikio, a disgraced Samurai who trained horses. They forged a real relationship over the course of a year, and Mizu opened up about her quest for revenge for the first time.
  • It went to shit. Someone turned her in for reward money. Mizu killed the men who came for her. Her husband and "mother" fought over who betrayed her. Mikio killed her "mother." Mizu killed him.
  • Mizu tracked down and killed the first white man.
  • Mizu tracked down Abijah Fowler via a flesh trader named Hachi, the Shindo dojo, and Heiji Shindo, his business partner. In the process, she unwillingly picked up Ringo as an apprentice.
  • Mizu barely survived fighting the Four Fangs and recovered while Taigen made her promise to give him a proper duel. Since he vowed no one else would get to kill her, he accompanied Mizu to tea with Heiji Shindo. After refusing his bribes, she escaped with both Taigen's and Ringo's help. She then abandoned Taigen on the road with a promise to duel.
  • Mizu tracked down Madame Kaji, who agreed to provide the intel to get into Fowler's fortress in exchange for a mercy killing staged as an accident. Mizu completed the assassination but was witnessed by a young boy who told the boss. Mizu then fought his entire army in Madame Kaji's teahouse and the streets. She won. Then she let Akemi be taken away by her father's men, losing Ringo's respect.
  • Mizu forged straight ahead into Fowler's fortress via a series of traps and battles. She rescued Taigen and climbed the final floors from the outside. Mizu saw Fowler's plans but chose to save Taigen and escape when her sword broke.
  • Ringo saved them from the icy water, brought them back to Kohama, and they all recovered. Taigen left when she revealed Fowler's plans to overthrow the shogun. Ringo agreed to go to Edo with Mizu provided she saved Akemi.
  • Mizu infiltrated the shogun's palace, warning Madame Kaji to leave, freeing Akemi, and interrupting Fowler's victory executions. She chased him through the palace, fighting him first with Taigen's help, then on her own. She nearly lost but got the upper hand.
  • Fowler revealed information about her she didn't know and tried to convince her she needed him alive.

joke_o: (Kick ass and chew bubblegum)
[personal profile] joke_o
-Physical Contact: Kyoko is very comfortable with platonic physical contact, so that's all good
-Mental Contact: There's not much there to contact, but definitely okay with it, even if she will be very confused at first
-Flirt: It's fine, just don't expect to get anywhere
-Shipping/Romance: Unless your character is Riki, no. She's very much committed to her boyfriend
-Fight: Can and will throw down at the drop of a hat, for any and all reasons, and have a blast doing so!
-Injury: Fine with her getting minor injuries - bruises, cuts, scrapes, that sort of thing - but for anything more involved, I'd appreciate an ask first
-Death: Generally not here for that, however I can be convinced in the right situation.

-Backtagging: I back tag til the cows come home so I'd be happy to keep stuff going
-Threadhopping: So long as it makes sense for the thread and doesn't derail conversations, I'm okay with it!
-Fourthwalling: Considering the weirdness of her canon, she would not be at all shocked to find she was from a video game. After all, she's in a video game she doesn't remember in canon
-CRAU: I've never had Kyoko at a game other than Etraya, so I don't imagine it'll come up but I'd appreciate a heads up first
-Off-Limits: Nothing comes to mind, but will append as anything does come up and will let people know if I get uncomfortable.

Info: Kyoko is a spunky, outgoing social butterfly that also just loves getting into a good brawl. She's mostly here for a good head empty, no thoughts, only vibes sort of time, but when things get serious she can switch gears while playing down any kind of danger she may find herself in. She's also very aware of her lack of intellect and doesn't really care, opting to be far more emotionally intelligent than book smarts. She's also very committed to her boyfriend, Riki, and will talk people's ears off about him given the chance. She's also very proficient in the art of brawling, and exceptionally durable as well.

CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Shelley Lang
Canon: Original
Age: 45
If Under 16, why is this character a good thematic fit for Somnia?: n/a
Canon Point: During the blizzard and power outage they they found themselves in, after he shot a man he thought was his friend for putting his young employer and his assistant in danger.
Wiki Link(s): Here.

SOMNIA-SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

1. Dreams are how Sleep chooses you. What might draw your character into Somnia— a wound, a wish, a weakness? Would they follow the dream, or run from it?

For Shelley this is a unique experience because this is effectively his second near death experience in the span of a month. He's at a point in his life where he's too tired to fight the ridiculous, unnatural experiences that he has and greets them with curiosity instead of rejection or denial. His overall reaction to the world is 'okay, this is a thing." He instead shrugs over it and asks questions instead. 'what is going on?' and 'why is this happening?'

The question of why is an effect of his job as a detective. 'Why' leads to figuring out the reasons why an incident happened, and by proxy reveals who the culprit is.

2. Somnia is a slow unraveling—of worlds, and of selves. How does your character respond to fear, transformation, and losing control? Do they fight, adapt, collapse?

An overall theme in Shelley's life is running away as an excuse to not deal with his personal problems, rebuilding his identity in a new location so that he isn't faced with the daily reminders of what he's lost or has missing in his life. Other people problems are easier to deal with than his own, and in his current timeline he has no choice but to actually face a variety of problems that are beyond his control- nearly dying from his immune system rebelling and attacking a vital process necessary to survive, vision issues that come with this as a result of ignoring his problems for too long.

He also has a lack of self worth that goes along with his, which amounts to a self destructive streak that results in him ignoring his needs and boundaries.

This will be a good lesson in being mindful about what HE needs- as if the vision issues that cause him to be unable to identify fine details around him or even read properly aren't enough.

3. Connection is the only constant. What kind of bonds does your character form— fast and burning, slow and wary, deep and desperate? How might that shape their time in this world?

His connections to others run hot and fast- its why he was effectively part of a polycule with two of his school mates when he was younger, and why he left town when one of them died of slow progressing illness in their 20s. He's not very good at verbalizing his emotions, and the depth of that he feels at times leaves him unsettled. Dipping into the woods for a weekend without telling too many people was a common strategy when he was younger- but the death of a peer, one he loved, was more than he knew how to deal with.

This is incidentally why he plays instruments. It's not an act for performance, it's an act of safe emotional expression, not unlike seeing characters like Tony Shalhoub's in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, when he aggressively plays the piano in academic and fatherly rage.

4. What are two major forces in your character’s personality that are often in conflict? (Ex: logic vs emotion, power vs guilt, obedience vs rage, etc.)

There is a lot of logic vs. emotion going on with Shelley. On one hand, his job of choice is reliant on his ability to discern the truth through an understanding of how people work and his ability to recognize patterns in real time to deduce the next rational beat- but a lot of it is in an effort to keep his own emotions compartmentalized, because the same critical thinking that he uses to be successful in his field can quickly be twisted and turned against himself if he's not careful. Anxiety and depression are common friends of his, and his lack of self worth manifests in a self deprication that may or may not just be a joke.

He knows the rational thing is to take better care of himself so that he can better send the community he finds himself in, but what that looks like for himself is often quite different from how it looks for others- he needs time to himself or in the wilderness, to focus on what is tactile and tangible.

People are people and people are messy. He doesn't like messy. But, building a fire to make himself a cup of coffee while he strums on the ukulele that lives in his campervan while the sun sets is real- more real than the increasingly loud world with 24 hour news cycles and airbrushed social media that lives in everyone's pockets instead of a room in the house.

VESSEL SELECTION
Which Vessel Type are you choosing: Token or Offering? Token

Why does this Vessel type feel appropriate for your character? Token is appropriate because one of the ongoing questions in his storyline which directly afrects his young partner is the question of humanity- what it means and it's impacts on the larger picture. His partner is a young nature spirit in the form of a shapeshifting bird whom Shelley has dubbed Lola, and, while she acts as his eyes for both the literal and metaphorical fog Shelley finds himself in while trying to solve the disappearance and probably murder of his childhood friend, she lacks the insight and understanding of the world that Shelley has.

Lola's Mother specifically chose Shelley to investigate the manner in which her well was polluted by being used to hide a body specifically for his love of nature but also his humanity. It's important that he keeps it.

Choose one OR list three subclass options within your chosen Vessel type that you think would suit them: Aquamancer- because the last time he ran into an Eldritch and Powerful Lady, she was the embodiment of an old mountain spring and he nearly drowned.

⏵ character information
name: Młynar Nearl
canon: Arknights
age: mid to late 40s
canon point: between the "An Obscure Wanderer" and "Zwillingstürme im Herbst" events
history: the wiki, though it's not very clearly written so feel free to ask me for clarification or details

abilities:
First of all, Młynar has the Standard Arknights Bullshit, making him noticeably stronger and more durable than a normal human from Earth. As a Kuranta (horse furry), he can also run at high speeds or over long distances without tiring much. As a Pegasian Kuranta (fancy pegasus horse furry) specifically, he is furthermore able to focus his eyes to see farther or in more detail than normally possible.

Młynar's training as a knight was exceptional, and he's noted to have enough mastery of all traditional knightly combat to train others whether they're using a lance, shield, or sword. He is best, though, with the sword, with which he shows the most skill and power.

He also has a form of magic, called "Arts" in canon, which is an innate power that can only be used with a focus made of special magic rock (Młynar's is located in his right hand gauntlet that he never takes off). Story-wise, these powers are vaguely defined, but include creating light, temporarily blinding or distracting opponents, extending the reach of his weapons, and creating a softly glowing rain that is basically magic acid rain. It is likely, based on the abilities of his relatives, that he's also able to heal himself to a small extent. Going off gameplay, he's able to draw attention to himself over his allies, reflect some damage, grant others the same reflection ability, and murder multiple enemies with one move.

personality:
Fundamentally, Młynar is a person who is deeply angry about the injustices and inequalities of the world, but who also deeply cares about others, especially those who are most vulnerable. He prioritizes outcasts like the Infected, and quietly supports others who do the same. Before his breakdown, he was naturally inclined towards action and did not hesitate to kill someone who he found to be actively destroying the lives of people with less power than them. These days he's not as quick to act and is likelier to use more legally acceptable methods, but the impulse is still there. Failure does not scare him - Młynar explicitly states that he knows he'll fail sometimes as a result of what he chooses to do, and considers being able to take those losses a crucial skill. Failing multiple times while reaching for a goal is simply part of any effort; it's failing multiple times with nothing to show from the process that crushed him.

He overthinks everything and applies strict standards to himself that few, if any, understand. He also rarely explains himself, believing that either it's irrelevant (why he didn't intervene in something doesn't merit a conversation) or that he would unfairly be burdening others with his problems (claiming he wasn't bothered by a death he was definitely bothered by). These traits combine to make him frequently come across as abrupt, uncaring, or condescending. For example, when he duels his niece Margaret in an attempt to stop her from joining the Kazimierz Major, he doesn't use his Arts. The others watching assume this is because he was looking down on her. In fact, it is later revealed when he's being evaluated by Rhodes Island that he holds to a tradition of only using Arts when his ideals are on the line. He doesn't agree with Margaret's methods, but he does support her ideals, so it wouldn't be appropriate for him to use Arts against her. Of course, he never explains this to Margaret or anyone else, at the time or later.

He's capable of being intensely critical (to the point where it verges on verbal abuse when he's at his worst) of himself, those close to him, and those he holds immediately responsible for some manner of harm. Yet, from a young age he has been open-minded and happy to side with people who have been shoved out of general society, and when there's no threat of immediate harm to others he's scrupulously non-judgmental of people and their life choices unless he knows them well. He'll treat a lawyer for a corrupt corporation with courtesy, even though he'll lecture his nieces for participating in a corporate-supported competition. His one remaining friend, Toland, comments that when he was younger Młynar had "a bad habit of seeing the best in people." He never entirely lost that, though he came close. When he joins Rhodes Island, people expect him to be rigid and high-handed, but he turns out to be respectful and attentive. His leadership style on missions is to trust his coworkers to use their individual strengths, with his role simply being to point them in the right direction. For all that his talk is often intensely cynical, highlighting the hopelessness of a cause or the forces aligned against it, Młynar keeps putting his efforts behind those causes. He can be swayed surprisingly easily into helping, as demonstrated when the plucky Sona recruited him for something simply by insistently assuming he'd be joining them.

❄️ Mizu tracked down Abijah Fowler via a flesh trader named Hachi, the Shindo dojo, and Heiji Shindo, his business partner. In the process, she unwillingly picked up Ringo as an apprentice.
❄️ Mizu barely survived fighting the Four Fangs and recovered while Taigen made her promise to give him a proper duel. Since he vowed no one else would get to kill her, he accompanied Mizu to tea with Heiji Shindo. After refusing his bribes, she escaped with both Taigen's and Ringo's help. She then abandoned Taigen on the road with a promise to duel.
❄️ Mizu tracked down Madame Kaji, who agreed to provide the intel to get into Fowler's fortress in exchange for a mercy killing staged as an accident. Mizu completed the assassination but was witnessed by a young boy who told the boss. Mizu then fought his entire army in Madame Kaji's teahouse and the streets. She won. Then she let Akemi be taken away by her father's men, losing Ringo's respect.
❄️ Mizu forged straight ahead into Fowler's fortress via a series of traps and battles. She rescued Taigen and climbed the final floors from the outside. Mizu saw Fowler's plans but chose to save Taigen and escape when her sword broke.
❄️ Ringo saved them from the icy water, brought them back to Kohama, and they all recovered. Taigen left when she revealed Fowler's plans to overthrow the shogun. Ringo agreed to go to Edo with Mizu provided she saved Akemi.
❄️ Mizu infiltrated the shogun's palace, warning Madame Kaji to leave, freeing Akemi, and interrupting Fowler's victory executions. She chased him through the palace, fighting him first with Taigen's help, then on her own. She nearly lost but got the upper hand.
❄️ Fowler revealed information about her she didn't know and tried to convince her she needed him alive.

CRAU History:
❄️ Two years ago, Mizu arrived in Folkmore with the express purpose of researching more information about her remaining fathers, so when she returned home she could kill Fowler and proceed to London on her own.
❄️ Her established routine involved regularly studying at the library, completing commissions for weapons, receiving hand-to-hand fighting training from Steve Rogers, and making a couple friendships, primarily with Vergil and Asano Rin. She sparred regularly with both but came to spend additional time with them (always having excuses).
❄️ Defeating Vergil became a benchmark/goal for herself as a sign she was ready to complete her revenge (unreasonable and never to happen, but again excuses to stay). As part of that, she purchased the ability to heal herself from Thirteen, so she could better keep up with him in combat and spar him more often (he required she be healed before sparring again).
❄️ Mizu was forced to face her feelings for both Vergil and Rin when the realm came under threat of destruction and their host swept most people away into safety at one of the schools. Vergil and Rin were both missed in that sweep, and she freaked out. Mizu spent a week trying to constantly get out until Vergil returned. She ambushed him to pin him/win hand-to-hand, which led to physical intimacy, the revelation Mizu has a woman's body, and emotional intimacy sharing more about themselves. They became romantic partners. When Rin returned a week later, Mizu also made sure she was healthy, rested, and fed. They were… friends.
❄️ Emotional complications continued with Vergil "secretly" gifting Mizu her horse Kai back, Rin leaving sparking a friendship with Makie from the same world, and getting to know Vergil's family that arrived in Folkmore. Eventually, Mizu made a major mistake in her relationship with Vergil, and the fallout from that forced her to consider her priorities and goals. She wants her revenge, but she also now wants… more. The possibility of a life and happiness at least once it's over. Like revenge, if she doesn't work on that now it won't be possible then. So she's chosen to devote less of her attention and time to revenge and more of it to… people. She doesn't know what life is possible for her in her world, but she wants it to be possible.

Auriel (TDM) History:
❄️ Mizu arrived confused and met/helped some of her peers backstage while trying to figure out what was going on. She told a semi-autobiographical story of an onryo and demonstrated her abilities with a sword on stage. At the party, she tried to find allies and ways out.
❄️ Mizu eventually made a move to try to escape the castle, whence she ran into Vergil. They each thought the other might not remember them, but Mizu was able to test the waters with a comment about seeing him in a library. Vergil brought Mizu back to his room, fetched her clothes and food, and she stayed there to avoid being taken back to any of the courts.
❄️ Mizu spent the remainder of her time in Auriel trying to figure out how to go back with Vergil and the rest to Etraya. She met up with others in the now abandoned castle and used her survival skills to help provide food. She wasn't especially interested in rescuing anyone else from a court, but the need for information and allies to achieve her aim meant she reached out and worked with others.

❄️ Basic medical skills
❄️ Hand-to-hand combat
❄️ CRAU Healing ability: active ability to heal herself when conscious, kicks in passively to a lesser degree when unconscious (enough to wake her up). So long as she can consciously decide to heal herself, she can heal any injury. However, she needs to focus to heal herself, so she hasn't mastered using it effectively while actively fighting someone/something or otherwise distracted or focused on something else.
❄️ Observation
❄️ Parkour
❄️ Survival skills
❄️ Swimming
❄️ Swordsmithing
❄️ Tracking
❄️ Weapons combat: katana, naginata primarily

personality:
Mizu grew up knowing bad men, aka her fathers, wanted to kill her, so when she tried to play with kids and her cabin was burned down killing her mother (or so she thought), she blamed herself. She swore revenge, and no matter the kindness of Master Eiji, she's sought it. She trained for years. She left when she felt prepared. As she discussed with swordfather years later and shortly before she left her world: she is an artist. Revenge is her art. So everything she does is for revenge, the way everything he does is to make swords. That's her driving factor.

Except she's learned she wants more than revenge. Mizu tried to find happiness with her mother and Mikio, her husband. She set her revenge aside then, only to be deeply betrayed by them both. At the time, she thought that taught her it wasn't possible, not for someone like her. Her time in Folkmore, however, has forced her to face her desires. They were always there, if shoved away and ignored. Mizu wants connections and relationships of various types and happiness. A life, something that never seemed possible.

Mizu is often angry by default because she carries so much of it—for herself, for her fathers, for her mother, for how so many people have treated her her whole life. However, her mood changes readily, whether happy or sad, excited or annoyed, and so on. Mizu falls back on social norms and customs, using them as tools to interact with people, many of whom otherwise would ignore her at best. She can be formal or distant when talking with people. Mizu doesn't trust friendliness directed toward her, after all, and can often get along easier in a transactional interaction. Business, an exchange, helping each other helps ourselves.

Due to her experiences, Mizu is cynical about the world and people in it. There's few people she cares about, and she's not generally motivated to help others. No one—almost no one—looks out for her, so she needs to. However, she's confident in her ability to achieve her aims and stubborn and determined to meet them. She's hardworking, pragmatic, and reliable in the rare instance she's given her word. Her determination sometimes seems like idiocy or impulsiveness, but she's usually thought things through. She's not afraid of danger and trusts in herself.
