Oh, yes, it's Ladies' Night; And the feeling's right
WHO: rosie & ladies of etraya!
WHEN: during mission 004
WHERE: her house in moorecraft
WHAT: Rosie is given the 'task' of hosting a get-together
NOTES\WARNINGS: mild nsfw for mention of sex toys briefly, but threads will be marked if necessary!
As people start to 'settle in' to their lives on Moorecraft, Rosie has the idea to spice things up a bit thanks to the tasks they've been given. All the women of the neighborhood - whether teen or adult - will receive an invitation hand-delivered by the blonde to a friendly weekend get-together. There will be family-friendly fun for the teenagers, but once they go to sleep it'll be time for the adults to enjoy themselves.
The only real rule will be no boys allowed*. No pretend-husbands, brothers, or sons- This is a ladies' night, after all!
(*Angel Dust will be an exception as Rosie's 'bestie' of honor.)
❥ Men are also not allowed but that doesn't mean they can't try to crash the party or get caught trying to do so. Just be careful about curfew and know that it might look bad on any men who do find their way in the midst of this get-together.
❥ Although not set in stone or all-inclusive, Rosie has made a basic itinerary for the evening below.
❥ Her house is the standard layout and, unfortunately, she doesn't have anything to really hide. People are free to try though! The most scandalous thing they'll discover is her vibrator collection but she won't actually be ashamed about that.

6:00PM
Dinnertime! As people arrive, they'll be encouraged to put in their pizza order. Did you think Rosie was cooking? Ha, good one. There will also be dessert in the form of various flavors of ice cream. There's even mochi! That one was made by Rosie and - despite her self-proclaimed lack of culinary skills - pretty good.
8:00 PM
Party games! Although more for the teen girls than anything, Rosie won't stop any of the ladies from participating. Some suggestions, but not an exhaustive list are: Truth or Dare, Scavenger Hunt, Spin The Bottle (of nail polish), Blindfolded Make-up, Board Games, and so on!
10:00 PM
(Teenagers)
(Teenagers)
Movie! What's a sleepover without making a pillow fort and watching a scary movie together? This will actually be a bit of a distraction for the teenagers over since...
11:00 PM
(Adults)
(Adults)
Drinks! Gossiping! While the teens are pre-occupied with a movie, Rosie will round up the adult women for the evening to have some cocktails (or beer, if preferred) and talk about their lives so far in Moorecraft. The good, the bad, and everything in-between! Nothing is off the table.

❥ late night gossiping.

late night gossip;
Wine glass in hand, she settles at one end of the couch, tucking her legs to her side as Rosie kicks off the gossip hour. “I was never supposed to be a mother,” she won’t get into why unless someone really wants to know, “I am not sure I am well-suited to it.”
no subject
"You know," she adds, "I'm not sure I am either, actually. Not that I was never supposed to, just- Never imagined it as a possibility, I think!" A tilt of her head, considering. That wasn't too much, right?
"What are you finding difficult about it?"
no subject
She doesn't remember her biological mother, and her memories of Melina back in Ohio are not as clear as she might like them to be- and her "daughters" aren't that young anyway, how Melina handled her at three and six probably aren't applicable to teenagers.
no subject
"I'll admit, I only... kind of remember my mom? She passed away when I was real young, so. It was just me and my dad for a while. Then, just me." That's about as oblique as she can be without getting into all of that drama. "That's the part I think I find the hardest myself, actually- Anyone needing me? Which sounds silly, maybe."
It's nice, in a way, to feel needed. Like this, though? As a mother? It's more terrifying than anything.
no subject
no subject
"It is weird! I mean, moreso the mom thing." A hum, considering. "I don't mind being a wife. It's actually been kind of nice. Not that, like, my husband and I have. Done anything!" A pause. "Well, we went on a date because that was one of our tasks but- Just that!" Excuse her as she just
slams back the rest of this glass of wine.
no subject
"Really? You fancy yourself a wife one day?" there's no judgment in her tone, only curiosity, because it's not something she can say she's ever pictured for herself personally, and it's kind of interesting to see that role as something else to other people.
She laughs softly into her glass and says, "Sounds like maybe there's more tea to be spilled."
no subject
She'd by lying though if she said she didn't like all this more than she let on, so: "I guess I do fancy being a wife though someday, maybe. I don't think it'll happen, really, with the way things are here or home, but... It's been fun! To pretend. Give me a little taste of what could have been in another life, right?"
It's why she's trying to enjoy it, like this, instead of facing the inevitability of losing it all.
no subject
She sips at her wine a little more and nods, she can see where some might feel that way. Playing pretend gets old when it's literally your job, and the novelty of it all sort of wears down, eventually. But it's kind of nice to see it in someone else, that little twinge of enjoyment in it, unladen with years of coercion underneath it all.
"Yeah, it is kind of nice, I guess, in it's own way," she muses with a little bit of a nod.
no subject
"Nothing special," she admits. "Just dinner, movie, drinks. He did... indulge me a little bit though." And knowing her, that might sound a bit more scandalous than she meant for it to. Thankfully, she clarifies quickly after: "I grew up watching lots of, like, romcoms and those things. One of the classic scenes is slow dancing with your partner in your living room together, so- I asked if we could do that and he said sure." It was such a small thing, honestly, but she's glad he humored her still.
party games
However, between the games she was provided, the makeup one seemed like it could potentially be fun, and it wasn't like she plans on going home with it on her face. As long as it was all in good fun...
Though, she's a bit overwhelmed at the choices, and some of those items.
"I think you're doing well, though I'm not too sure how they differ from each other. You're quite confident!"
It wasn't like she was a stranger to makeup, but she's also from a universe that was closer to the Middle Ages than modern times, despite the technology.

lonelinessmaking new friends! Honestly, that's one of the reasons for this whole get-together in the first place. While she tends to do better in the company of men, well- That was at home, at least, and here she's finding it fun to just kind of branch out a bit and know her fellow ladies."You think?" Rosie asks, careful not to move her hand too much as she perks up with pride at the compliment to her skills. Pausing the game just briefly, she lifts up one edge of the blindfold to peek at Mercedes and smile. "I used to have to do a full face a day so, like, maybe I'm just more familiar... Not a lot of choice where you're from, I'm guessing?"
Whether that's because of the time period or just other limitations, whose to say. She did enjoy learning about other people's worlds though where she could.
no subject
It wasn't that she was broke or anything, not as an adopted daughter of a merchant, but there weren't a lot of luxuries she allowed herself anymore.
"But more than that, we did not have some of these things back home. You must simply teach me how to use them later!"
no subject
"I'd be happy to teach you whatever I can though! That's one of the fun things about us all being different places, honestly. I feel like we're learning a lot from each other. Even as strange as it all is, too."
no subject
She starts, thinking about it. The make-up tutorial might seem a bit onesided, when she puts it that way. Sure, she would love to learn more about it, but to gain and not to have anything in return is no good.
"Why don't I bake you some sweets in exchange from learning make-up from you?"
no subject
As far as her own attempts at home cooking her so far? Abysmal. Tragic. Disastrous. The list goes on, really, but safe to say her domestic culinary skills are on par with her driving ones. "Could you even teach me, maybe? I'm not, like. Good at cooking, but I'm usually a quick study."
no subject
That one catches her by surprise, mostly by the nature of it being traditional. It makes her think of a quiet man whe questions her motives due to his origins, enough to make her want to learn more. In this place, she's certain she'd hear about things she's never heard of back home.
no subject
"My home country is called Japan," the woman explains, "and like a lot of countries, we have our style of cuisine. I'm good at cooking those kinds of dishes because I grew up with them, but not a lot of other stuff."
no subject
So, there was still a possibility it was the same world, though she doubted it. She'd think trade would have more items like this if that happened, and a lot of the technology she's seen here was overwhelmingly different from what she's seen before.
"It sounds like a great way to get to know each other's culture a bit more. Oh, this is exciting!"
She does love learning about new things.
no subject
It might be a little naive of her, maybe, to think so. She does mean it though. Traveling had been so fun for Rosie mostly for the fact she got to learn about other people, places, and have richer experiences for it. Her own people were so insular and close-minded that it could be troublesome.
"So we'll make it a cooking date, what do you say?"
no subject
"Yes, that would be lovely. Oh, but first..."
She pulls her hand from her face, then gestures towards it as well.
"Were you able to finish? I'd like to see the final result."
no subject
"Oh, hey! I didn't do too bad," she comments. "Though that eyeshadow might be a little bold..." She'd just guessed from what she knew, but it is a deeper, shimmery purple that might not be Mercedes' usually style.
Party Games
"A full set, for just the one? You, my friend, have a wildly exaggerated sense of property worth. Now, if two railroads aren't to your liking - two perfectly functional railroads with loads of foot traffic - then...I might be persuaded to sweeten the pot..."
She pauses for dramatic effect.
"I have the other utility. That, and a further four hundred credi- dollars, could be yours. Very reasonable, one time offer."
no subject
"Okay, okay," she concedes, about the worth of what she holds. It's a good spot, sure, but-! She gets it. "I can roll in a couple of railroads." No one has a Monopoly on those yet, but... Once they do, it could be disastrous. That's fun kind of leverage though she gets Mal is angling for.
"Hm!" she hums, hiding her face behind her colored cards briefly. "Make it three hundred and I'm sold." Gotta' counteroffer, of course. Can't make it too easy.
no subject
"Oh, you bargain like a dried out Hutt," she replies, but then nods. "Fine, it's a deal."
no subject
"A dried out what?" she laughs, incredulous. While she's sure it's meant to be a playful jab, it's more just the uniqueness of it that throws the woman off. "Like yeah, okay, deal but- I need an explanation for whatever you just called me." So she can call others it, of course.
no subject
"It's amazing how quick game trash-talk comes back to me. Used to play some pretty cutthroat card games, in my old barracks."
no subject
"No kidding," the blond laughs. "I actually didn't get to play many, which is probably why I enjoy them so much now. Making up for the lost time and all that."
no subject
"Board games are new," she admitted. "Interesting, too."
no subject
"Oo, doubles," she says, smiling, before looking back at Mal. "Well, I'm glad to give you the experience! Board games are fun and help you get to know people. Nothing tries a friendship either like an intense game of Monopoly, I've learned." Or Mario Kart.
no subject
She does smile at the latter comments.
"See, here I thought you learned that by beating someone all in on a Sabaac pot, but hey, we live and learn, yeah."
no subject
Isn't that what most people want?
"You'll have to teach me that," she says, since the name is unfamiliar to her. "Cultural exchange at its finest!"
no subject
She pauses.
"Oh, and usually there's a randomizer, so values on the cards can change, unless you put 'em in an interference field - just to add to the nerve-wracking fun of it, heh."
no subject
"A randomizer though...! A lot of slots and stuff are basically that where I'm from, but cards are only randomly drawn. The chaos of changing card values would definitely be something to see."
no subject
"That's part of the fun, really. Depending on the game, some of your cards are face up, or all face down - so it gets pretty tight towards the end, heh."
She shakes her head.
"Not that I was ever a big gambler. Didn't have the money for it, for a start."
no subject
"Oh- No? I mean, me either. I didn't gamble myself a lot, but I hung around a bunch of guys who tended to." It was a bit ironic when she thought of it, sometimes, how the exorbitantly wealthy sometimes had nothing better to do with their money than risk losing it.
"I liked playing the role of Lady Luck for them, usually."
no subject
She spreads her hands in a way that, in another universe, might be called jazz hands.
"We didn't have much to gamble, but we sure gambled it hard, really. I think everybody's pay packets swapped hands at least once."
no subject
"Oh, jeez," she laughs, at that. It really shouldn't be funny, but: "At least you had your fun where you could, right?"
no subject
"Yeah," she says, carefully pushing past most of what swirls up in her mind. "Yeah, we really did. And wow did we drink a lot in those days."
no subject
"Probably for the better, honestly. I don't have too many vices but a good, stiff drink will get me every time."
no subject
"So, uh, only in moderation," she added.
no subject
"That's super cool though! You can just, like, make things levitate?" Rosie can't do anything... she'd say. In reality, she's actually quite impressively lethal when given the opportunity. Still!
"I get why that'd complicate things though if alcohol was a factor, yeah."
no subject
"I can, yeah, but there's...well, quite a bit more to it than that. But, heh, not something to have when a buzz comes in, you know?"
no subject
That's a superpower she imagines some people would consider also acts as a curse.
no subject
"Yeah, pretty much. So: no heavy drinking for me, heh."
She shrugs.
"But now I get ice cream, and that's new, so. Y'know. Balance."
Mal Durrish | OTA
She has never had pizza. She has to ask a few questions, but ultimately settles on basic pepperoni and cheese. And when it arrives, well.
Why. Why has her universe not invented this? She digs into it with absolute relish, devouring two pieces before she's even aware she's gone through it.
And guess, just guess, who has never had ice cream in her galaxy-trotting life, either...tonight is a night of delightful discovery.
Party Games
She had been reticent about coming, having, well, never been to anything quite like this. It's...nice, really nice, actually, to just have a relaxing night. And she's happy to play any board games, try the scavenger hunt - and even a good round of Truth or Dare.
Somebody might want to explain the rules of Spin the Bottle before she gets heavily involved in it. Though that isn't the worst thing she could be doing, that's for sure.
Drinks
Cocktails! These are lovely and fancy and she feels safe, so she can indulge.
She's currently holding up a very bright concoction with two layers of colour, watching the light filter through them with a smile.
