( in regards to speed not being a priority for the moment. granted, the batmobile is capable of going pretty fast, but. sort of needs the nitro for that. regardless, even without, it's still fast. )

Would you rather stay here or at the Manor? ( a beat. ) For the day or two staying off your foot.

( spoken as if he's stood still long enough to settle somewhere. he has goliath in the cave, but goliath is fairly good at taking care of himself. damian takes another bite of his pizza slice, mulls it over while chewing. )

It doesn't make much of a difference to me.

( screwdriver down onto the work table, beside the pizza. but not too close.

damian needs that hand back, just in case. )

( he just. you know. hasn't really been without alfred [for long] before. )

( his brows furrow, eyes focused on bruce's own. it's the second time he's heard his name out bruce's mouth. the first time, it'd been muffled by his screams as he sank deep into the lazarus pit. it's less odd to hear his name off of his father's lips, but it's still. . . strange, in a way. hearing it from this bruce.

not that it matters much. the judgment on damian's face is clear regardless. )

And what will you do if another cat manages to catch you unaware?

( ugh. )

I can stay at the Manor with you. If you're so concerned.

( all he has left of the pizza is the crust now. which damian is--devouring bite by bite. )

Are you going to stay, or are you planning on taking off?

I'll stay while you're kept off your foot.

( that's what they're talking about, isn't it? )

( if bruce stays put, it's not as if damian has anywhere else he needs to wander off to any time soon while bruce is remaining in place. he'll need to check on drake, eventually. todd, too. but they can handle themselves.)

( a beat. a moment of consideration. )

Do you need... food and things for the Manor?

( he wants to tell bruce that he's fine, thanks. damian is self-sufficient, he's taken care of himself where it called for significantly more extreme measures than etraya requires. but damian also recognizes this for what it is: bruce is trying. so he holds back the initial reaction to scoff and throw him off. )

The Manor could use. . . supplies. I've made sure the Cave is fairly well-stocked with medical supplies, but the pantry is a little bare.

( he is and, even then. he doesn't know if it's enough. )

We can stop at that Kwik Trip. Pick up some things there.

Can I drive?

( the answer is always no, unless bruce has been blinded. but damian asks anyway. )

( hopefully he expected that. )

( fair. a click of his tongue, and damian pulls another piece of pizza loose from the pie before he walks back over to the batmobile, and - lets himself in through the passenger door. there's no seat, but he seems fine on top of the nitro tank he'd re-placed there. )

( damian goes and takes his seat there in the passenger seat and bruce just... stares at him. he's really not all that sure where he's going to find a seat and the proper upholstery for it. )

Don't you think that's a little dangerous?

Get a passenger seat, and I'll sit there instead.

( since there isn't one, he's making himself comfortable here. bruce can stare all he wants. damian's assuming he's taking the car with him, so - )

Get in the driver's seat.

( a beat. )

You're not driving. I just want to check it.

( his work, he means. he's not about to take the car out if it's not Up To His Standards. )

( a roll of his eyes, but he is scooting over onto the driver's seat, slouching forward enough he can get his good foot up against the gas petal.

just in case bruce wants him to start it up. )

( that's great, he says sarcastically with his eyes. fleeting glance up to damian as he goes about checking everything over. )

We'll stop at Kwik Trip first. Pick up some things. Do you have clothes and things at the Manor?

I have a spare set for when my uniform is being cleaned.

( because that's pretty much the only time he takes off his gear. he's not starting the engine up yet, because bruce hasn't given him the keys and he probably shouldn't be fussing around with bruce's car too much. it's only polite to leave it be. )

My room is essentially the same as it had been.
