WHAT: A man and his motorcycle

It’s another beautiful day in Etraya. The sun is shining, the Quantum Rail is gone, aaaand depending on where you are, you might hear the roar of a motorcycle.

1) Vroom Vroom:

If you’re in Nova City, you might see a man wearing a brown biker jacket and a red motorcycle helmet riding a red motorcycle. He’s not doing a casual ride though. He’s taking full advantage of the urban environment by practicing his stunts. Drifts, wheelies, jumps, you name it and he’s practicing it. Come and safely enough the show.

2) Long Ride:

Alternatively, Jason could be taking his motorcycle out for a long ride around Etraya. Checking to see what’s changed and what’s still around is as good of an excuse as any. It’s been a while since he got to enjoy a ride. He might even be trying to ride along the new trolley for fun.

Come flag him down or talk to him when he does rest stop.

"...What happens if you don't get it right? This isn't your first horse, huh?"

Popp is an unwilling connoisseur of crashes, vehicular and otherwise. With how fast this thing goes... maybe he does not want to ride one himself, actually.

[leastdramatic]

"Nope," Jason replies, completely untroubled. "That's why you start off slow and take some bruises and scraps."

He's certainly has had more than his share of those.

[snapp_crackle]

"Ahh, that's pretty sensible. Even something easy like a boat can mess you up pretty bad if you take it too fast."

The slow and sensible way of going about things is Popp's preferred method and very rarely the one he actually uses.

"What's your name, horse guy? I'm Popp."

[leastdramatic]

"Name's Jason," he replies. "And this here--"

He taps on his motorcycle's handlebar proudly.

"Is called a motorcycle, Popp."

[snapp_crackle]

"A motorcycle, huh. I'd also been wondering about that."

He nods to himself. It's not weird to not know what a motorcycle is. Nobody has them on his world. Not knowing doesn't make him look like he's from the country.

[leastdramatic]

Jason isn't judging given how diverse the multiverse is. Plus, it's a good enough reason to show off.

"Yup. Got one back home too. This one isn't the same as my normal but it's good enough."

[snapp_crackle]

He still doesn't want to try riding one. It roars a lot more than you'd expect from a robot. What if it bites. But also, come on, he can't go around getting scared of things he doesn't recognize, he's representing his whole world here!

"...Wanna race?"

[leastdramatic]

"Oh? What do you got?" Jason asks with a slight smile. Based on what he's seen already, he can take a guess what but he's curious enough to ask what else Popp might have.

[snapp_crackle]

"Levizoom!"

Popp zips up about his own height with a showy spin and hovers.

"I'm not bad with a boat, but..."

He gestures to the streets, in all their unflooded glory.

[leastdramatic]

Jason's slight smile turns into a smirk.

"Ready to test your skills then, fly boy?" he says.

[snapp_crackle]

"You bet, ground boy!"

A friendly competition is still a competition.

"I'll even let you have a head start!"

...Because Popp doesn't know his way around the city. It's a very informal competition.

[leastdramatic]

Jason puts back on his motorcycle helmet and begins to rev up his bike. He's counting on his knowledge of Nova City's layout to win.

"If you say so," he yells over the engine.

He then zooms off.

Popp's very fast in a straight line, or even a curved one. While it's flat out impossible to reach his top speed in unfamiliar territory, he can catch up if he pushes himself. He's got plenty of magic to burn, and draws up alongside Jason and the motorcycle, surrounded by a faint white glow.

His hair spikes are blowing around, but he doesn't look like he's taking the amount of air resistance right to the face that he should be, physics-wise.

"Heh heh, don't make it too easy for me, all right?"

[leastdramatic]

"Sure about that?" Jason yells out before making a sudden sharp into a narrower street. He's purposely trying to make a serpentine path now.

[snapp_crackle]

"Whoa!"

Popp loses ground, but doesn't smack directly into the fire escape in his path, so who's the real winner here?

...Yeah yeah fine it's Jason. So far!

[leastdramatic]

Popp might not be able to hear it because of the wind blowing and the motorcycle's engine roaring but Jason's laughing as he keeps riding. He then zips right into a narrow alleyway.

[snapp_crackle]

He's pretty sure Jason's laughing at him even if it could just be a trick of the wind.

"Arrgh... You haven't beat me yet!"

He zips into the alleyway, hot on the motorcycle's tail.

[leastdramatic]

Jason sees a dead end coming and just before he could crash into, makes a sharp right turn.

[snapp_crackle]

This time Popp smacks right into the wall. His reflexes are good enough that he manages to whack into it full on upright and not head first, and he's yelling very indignantly and indistinctly about it!

Fine, he'll play a little harder too!

"Crackle!"

A chilly blue blast sails past the motorcycle and hits the road well ahead of Jason. Ice spreads out from the point of impact in thick, uneven swirls.

[leastdramatic]

Now there's a fun challenge. Jason is forced to slow down so that he doesn't spin out on the ice. The thick uneven swirls slows him down even more.

[snapp_crackle]

It's a friendly competition so throwing fireballs is out! He's glad that the ice works.

"Heh heh heh. Don't like the cold, huh?"

Popp hasn't taken the lead yet; having lost some time wobbling back into the air. He's gaining ground and close enough to trash talk, though!

[leastdramatic]

Jason decides to let physics take control and uses the memento from the ice to try to hold his lead. He's careful to avoid hitting anything as continues to spin. As soon as it looks like he's in the clear of the ice though, his motorcycle roars as he zooms off again.

[snapp_crackle]

Oh, he can deal with ice on the ground? Fine, all right... Popp's caught up enough to get a little fancier, and starts tossing out spells that form outright obstacles, big spikes of ice that would be pretty bad to run into!

...Jason's good at what he does, he'll be fiiiiine.

Jason's not intimidated by the ice spells as he continues to swerve and dodge. If anything, this makes the race more fun! He also uses the speed he regained to jump off a ramp.

[snapp_crackle]

It really can jump...! C'mon, though, he can't cheer for the guy he's trying to beat!

And he went clean over a really tricky patch! What a waste of a spell!

Popp redoubles his efforts in both flight speed and volume of ice, alternating spikes and slick patches. It's a drain on his magic reserves, sure, but when was the last time he cared about that sort of thing? He's caught up in the moment, and frankly having way too much fun to hold back!
