It’s another beautiful day in Etraya. The sun is shining, the Quantum Rail is gone, aaaand depending on where you are, you might hear the roar of a motorcycle.

1) Vroom Vroom:

If you’re in Nova City, you might see a man wearing a brown biker jacket and a red motorcycle helmet riding a red motorcycle. He’s not doing a casual ride though. He’s taking full advantage of the urban environment by practicing his stunts. Drifts, wheelies, jumps, you name it and he’s practicing it. Come and safely enough the show.

2) Long Ride:

Alternatively, Jason could be taking his motorcycle out for a long ride around Etraya. Checking to see what’s changed and what’s still around is as good of an excuse as any. It’s been a while since he got to enjoy a ride. He might even be trying to ride along the new trolley for fun.

Come flag him down or talk to him when he does rest stop.

[Mayuko went radio silent after disembarking the Rail for... understandable reasons. But today, in her effort to navigate Etraya's new layout, she is out in Nova City to appraise the convenience store. Well... maybe it's more "judge" than appraise. But at least it has a membership option? That's at least familiar.

The downside is that even after going through the place with a fine-tooth comb, there's a lot of empty city and plenty of time before the trolley trundles back. So it's natural she goes to find where the motorcycle sounds are coming from, and watch from a safe distance.]

[As Mayuko gets closer, Jason is speeding down a street before popping a wheelie that last an entire city block]

[Sweet fluffy Amaterasu... is there even a situation where one needs to wheelie for an entire block. She has to think about it, it has been a long time since she's taken a ride on a motorcycle.

... okay, maybe if the front tire was flat. Not that it matters, it matters that whoever it is is having a good time.

Standing at the corner of a building, her gaze following him, she's not wearing her traffic-cone coat, but she's also not blending into the city's colorscape.]

[Jason sees Mayuko at the corner as he pops another wheelie and waves to her. He still has one hand on a handlebar so it’s all good here]

[On this second pass, she gets a better look and thinks, ohhhh, it's Jason? That looks like his jacket, that's probably Jason. Followed by a shocked laugh despite herself as he waves.]

Now you're just showing off!!!

[Jason laughs. He hears “showing off” and decides to stop… by sliding his bike sideways. Eat your heart out, Akira movie]

[Mayuko lets herself be more openly impressed with the stop, since she recognizes that move! Akira came out in when she was 16, she had to wait until she was in college to see it 'cause her parents said "no". Ah, nostalgia.

Here you go, theater kid, have some applause.]

1 Vroom vroom

Popp has no idea what a motorcycle is, and is not entirely clear on whether it is some sort of creature or more of a robot, but he doesn't need to be a mechanic to tell that he's looking at something incredibly cool. It probably isn't hostile, that's probably a human under the gear, but also. What if it isn't!

Despite trying to be stealthy, watching suspiciously from the rooftops at first and then flying down lower and lower to follow, he's mostly counting on the rider not looking up to notice a hovering teenager in bright green and a cape... And the noise of the steed, because he keeps gasping or outright cheering every time Jason pulls off a difficult stunt.

Jason learned early on in his childhood to always watch his surroundings. So despite being in the middle of working on his stunt riding, he catches from the corner of his vision Popp climbing down. The bright green and cape really make him stick out.

He's not ready to stop just yet though as he's having too much fun. Plus, he's waiting to see if Popp is a threat or not.

Using a few companion bots like traffic cones, Jason practices his swerves down a street.

All right, so the red rider's weaving around the weird metal guys instead of mowing them down, that's a good sign! Probably what he's like around normal flesh people, right? Popp decides it's safe to fly even lower, although not low enough to get run over if the machine suddenly goes backwards or something. He starts perching on window ledges and fire escapes, less nervous, more relaxed and enjoying the show.

It's a really fast... small trolley? Robot horse? He's not used to seeing things that fast turn so well; he certainly can't!

"It's so cool..."

Popp is someone who talks out loud to himself all the time. Sometimes it's because he's working through things, and sometimes it's because you simply have to acknowledge that motorcycles are cool.

While Jason does another zigzag lap, he sees Popp coming down closer. Since Popp seems to be a captive nonthreatening audience, Jason then pops a wheelie with one hand on the handlebar and another hand waving at Popp.

Oh crap, he's been spotted! Popp reflexively claps a hand over his mouth, then takes it off and sheepishly waves back from the air. He's cautious (sometimes), not shy.

"Heyyy! I like your robot horse! How high can it jump?!"

Jason stops his motorcycle by sliding it sideways. Was that necessary? No but it just looks cooler that way.

"If there's a good ramp to use, I'd say it's pretty high up," he says proudly.

Jason definitely is not the only person on a motorcycle around the place - though it's still a relative rarity to see someone on on here compared to back home. Maybe that's why the new sound of an extra motorcycle stands out to Fabian so much while he is out on his own.

He immediately heads over in that direction, finding another person on a motorcycle as well. As soon as the other stops for a pit stop, Fabian catches up with him, also bringing his own, rather odd-looking bike to a halt.

"I didn't know there were more of us riding motorcycles around here," Fabian comments to the other person - still not fully sure who they are, considering the helmet Jason is wearing. Despite the fact that Fabian was also speeding around, he isn't wearing a helmet at all, making him instantly recognizable.

Jason looks at Fabian and recognizes him as one of the first people he met when he first arrived in Etraya. He then takes off his helmet.

"News to me too," he says before looking at Fabian's motorcycle. "Nice ride."

"This is the Hangman," he says. Very casually too, like Fabian thinks there's absolutely nothing weird about giving your bike a name. He even gives the motorcycle a pat as he's saying it, briefly looking down at it.

But then he looks back over at Jason right after.

"He's from back home." A nudge of Fabian's head in the direction of Jason's motorcycle. "What about yours?"

Fabian understands feeling attached enough to your bike from back home to let it be brought here, but-- who knows. Maybe Jason didn't even have one back home, and this is just a generic one he got here.

Jason doesn't even blink at the bike's name. His family's arsenal all have names like Batarangs, Batmobile, and Bat Shark repellent. He's used to items being named.

"Won this baby during the November mission," Jason replies proudly. "Been tweaking it and seeing what I can upgrade since then. It looks similar to my usual ride back home. You built yours?"

The November-- For a moment Fabian is confused, but then he remembers. Right, the race. It must have slipped his mind because he actively opted to not be part of that one. Seems like Jason participated though - and won. Which isn't too much of a surprise, if he's an experienced driver the way Fabian is.

"No, I killed a guy and took his bike."

Usually Fabian would just say that casually.

He has learned a little bit though about how that sort of thing tends to be perceived here compared to in his world, so after a slight pause - just a beat - he explains: "It was a bad guy." For the record!!!

"Must've been a hell of a bad guy," Jason says. Even though he doesn't kill anymore, there's only so much judging he can do given his body count. Plus, unlike his adoptive father, Jason's more willing to consider different nuances and differen circumstances for why such a thing would happen.

vroom vroom!

In fact, depending on where you are, you might hear the roar of two motorcycles.

Cloud hears the other one while he's out riding himself on his Hardy-Daytona, and from the sound of things, that's no leisurely drive. What's a guy supposed to do, not go check it out?

The first he sees of the other guy is when he comes out from under a bridge to see a red motorcycle jumping the gap between two rooftops. He looks up and, if the guy happens to look down and see him, smirks - a clear challenge - before rearing up on his back wheel for a moment to build momentum and then zooming around until he's joined Red Bike Guy on the rooftops with a flying leap.

He doesn't bother to say anything. He figures this guy will know it's time for a show-off...off.

Jason had heard the second motorcycle and of course had to check out who it was. There aren't a lot of motorcycle riders in Etraya. Underneath his helmet, he grins as Cloud zooms towards him.

"Not bad at all," Jason says to himself as he watches Cloud launch himself onto a rooftop to catch up to him.

Once Cloud lands, Jason pointedly looks at him, revs up his motorcycle, and then speeds off towards the next rooftop.

It might stand out to Jason that Cloud's not wearing a helmet...it's probably fine.

Cloud speeds after him, catching up quickly and shooting him an equally pointed glance just before they hit the edge of the roof. Then he puts on an extra burst of speed and leaps the gap with an entirely unnecessary flip in midair before landing.

If someone wants to risk cracking their skull while riding on a motorcycle, who is Jason to judge? Anyway! Jason trails behind Cloud and also does a daredevil jump and a flip across the gap. He lands right besides Cloud after that.

"That all you got?" he shouts over their engines.

[nimbuster]

"That's my line," Cloud shouts back. "Show me I should bother putting in some real effort."

Jason laughs before speeding off again. This time, he doesn't just jump to the next rooftop. It's a full somersault.
