[semi-closed] Garreg Mach Move-In
WHO: Yuri Leclerc
wolfish, Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd
hauntedsnowfall, An Zhe
hyphanated Clive Rosfield
heroofhopeless, and Joshua Rosfield
ablazinggrace. Also Clive's visitors, possibly.
WHEN: Late June - early July
WHERE: Garreg Mach monastery
WHAT: New residents moving in!
NOTES\WARNINGS: Not at the moment, will update as needed.
[ Garreg Mach is a great, sprawling complex that might sooner bring to mind a castle than a monastery. Nestled among mountain peaks, its white stone towers strike up towards the sky whilst its thick walls serve as looming fortification for its residents. Within these walls lie a great many facilities in place for its residents, clearly built to provide for clergy and guests alike.
In Fódlan, Garreg Mach hosted an Officer's Academy. Now the classrooms remain empty, the training facilities far in excess of what a scant few individuals could have need of. It boasts a greenhouse full of plants which require its shelter to flourish, including the occasional little mushroom, which seems to have a tiny house stationed under a great, towering flower. The gardens are well-kept, stray cats range about the grounds, and chocobos occupy some of the stables. Most of the dormitories remain unoccupied, but it's clear a few are lived-in, just as it's clear that some effort has been made to maintain the grounds, including the great cathedral at the monastery's heart.
There is also a pond teeming with fish of various sizes and species. There are perhaps too many. Someone should really get on that... ]

Monastery Visit → Clive
Not to mention, the man had been in pretty damn rough shape when Yuri first saw him. He can only hope the guy doesn't attract that kind of trouble (or that kind of ardent opponent) too often, especially not with his unfortunate cursed magic. Imagine turning to stone for using a gift one's deity surely gave them in the first place. Terrible. Sothis would never.
Yuri goes about his business as he always does. In this case, it brings him to a nearby pub. Not for the drinks, no, but for the food. He's discovered pub food can be quite good, actually, and after a day spent trimming far too many hedges around the monastery, he thinks he's due for a reward. That's his thinking as he strides into the pub, at least, until he sees a familiar fellow perched on one of the bar stools looking like he direly needs to be dragged out of his thoughts.
That's Yuri's cue to stroll right over and claim the seat beside him with the uncanny grace of a man entirely too practiced in looking good for others. It's second nature by now, pay it no mind. ]
You look like someone stole your dog.
[ Let him just kick open the conversational door. ]
no subject
Clive frowns into his cup and tilts his chin down towards the ground in the direction Yuri is coming from. It is a bit difficult to tell, but are those footsteps approaching? Nearly silent, especially in the bit of the hustle and bustle of the bar, but he thinks they might be. Clive tenses. It might not mean a fight, but -
Upon hearing the voice, the tension in Clive's body releases entirely. He sets his cup down and turns to smile at Yuri.]
If you want to be technical, they did.
no subject
Someone should talk to Aurora about it, though he supposes that's what all the points business is for. ]
And here I only meant it in jest.
[ The man really is off to quite the start, isn't he? Fortunately, Yuri has been around long enough that he can at least offer him a useful tidbit or two. ]
There's some mercy: you keep busy around here, and Aurora'll take requests.
no subject
It's alright. It was a pretty funny joke. Honestly? Even more so considering they did steal my dog.
[Clive pats the stool next to him.]
As long as that is the type of humor that you go for.
[Clive is currently in the 'if I don't laugh I'll cry' stage of things so that is what he has been clinging to.]
Requests?
[He perks up.]
I might be able to get Torgal here?
[Oh how he missed his wolf. Being away from him for more than a day had become so difficult and here had been without his companion for about a month now.]
no subject
I'd wager you could— and I play to win.
[ Yuri has seen and heard about all manner of purchases, including animals. Why should that not include Clive's dog? ]
Hell, I got the whole monastery by trading points for it.
[ He says as much airily, knowing well how absurd it is. ]
no subject
Dion was telling me about how a keep from home, Stonhyrr, is here as well. It's impressive what they can do with these points that we earn.
[Clive takes a sip of his ale.]
Does spending our points on things like this not impact how we are able to win favor to save our homes?
no subject
[ He says it so casually: Barney's place. Like he's simply some neighbor across the way. Yuri certainly has paid a few visits to bring the man pumpkin-flavored baked goods; first because it was seasonal and then because Cid told him it was a favorite of Barnabas'.
As to the question, he hums softly and taps his chin. ]
Pretty sure it's an added incentive for being a particularly active world-saver. Bonus goodboy-points for enthusiasm, or something like that.
[ He's never heard of it doing any harm, and hell, he seems to be in Aurora's good graces if the key-card she had Gorgug deliver to him was any indication. ]
no subject
Barney?
[Clive looks at Yuri incredulously.]
Did you just call Barnabas Tharmr Barney?
[How had Yuri not lost a limb for that? Does Barnabas know that Yuri calls him Barney?
Clive's brain has stuck itself on Barney. Regular scheduled programming will resume momentarily.]
no subject
Is it truly all that shocking? ]
I did! What else would one go with, really? Barn? Barbie?
[ There are only so many options to choose from. Yuri likes to think that Barney's the most fitting selection. ]

[Having learned about children's dolls as a concept, An Zhe had at some point managed to find a book on the library with instructions on how to make them, and now! He finally has a proper-looking(?) plush bear, with a cute little mushroom pattern embroidered on its body. He carries it out with him, not entirely sure what to do with it next, and ends up sitting by the shore of the fishing pond...only for a playful chocobo to pick up the bear from where he'd had it sitting next to him.]
Ah—wait! Come back...!
[The bird is off! Is this a game of tag? Hopefully not, because there's no way this scrawny teen can keep up if so.]
soup
[You know what's a nice, safe pastime that doesn't involve giant birds? Cooking! And with a growing number of residents in the monastery, that's all the more reason for him to cook up a nice, big pot of soup! But what kind...potato soup's his go-to favorite, but the colonel liked mushroom, but he's definitely not making that unless asked, but—hmm.
Anyway, anyone wandering into the dining hall today will get a whiff of delicious, homemade chicken soup coming from the kitchen. And if An Zhe notices their approach, he'll gently turn around and ask,] Would you like some? It's still hot.
wildcard
[An Zhe can be found exploring the library, hanging out in the greenhouse (in mushroom form, human form, or that awkward naked phase in-between depending on your choice), or literally anywhere else in any form at all. Wanna find a network of mycelium on the ceiling somewhere? Wanna have a chat about religion in the cathedral? Anything's possible if you believe.]
i'm at soup
much quieter and not multi-coloredwater. ]Oh! Thank you, An Zhe, that is a kind offer. I would be glad to have some, if you can spare it.
[ He looks tired, like perhaps all those late nights in Garreg Mach's library isn't getting him rest. He goes to grab a bowl. ]
are you here to buy clothes-
There's noodles in it, too. I hope it tastes alright.
[Is it the right kind of noodle? Unclear. But the chicken and veggies are definitely correct!]
no subject
If it tastes half as good as it smells I am sure it will be delicious.
[ Despite the dark circles under his eyes he smiles warmly at An Zhe and takes the bowl. ]
Have you eaten yet? If not you could join me if you'd like.
no subject
He notices those dark circles, recognizing after a moment that it's a sign of exhaustion in humans. Though he doesn't express any sort of visible worry or concern, his smile does fade slightly as he nods.]
Okay.
[He serves himself a bowl as well, carrying it over to the table, then—before bothering to actually eat—looks up at Dimitri with a curious gaze.]
Have you been doing well?
no subject
Dimitri isn't familiar with An Zhe's micro-expressions, so the change in his smile doesn't register as anything to be concerned about.
He figured An Zhe would likely tuck into the soup right away, it does indeed smell quite fine, so when the question comes Dimitri looks up from his bowl a little surprised. He swallows his current mouthful. ]
I do not desire to trouble you. I merely have not been resting well these days.
[ This is said with a faint smile. ]
no subject
An Zhe does sip at his soup while Dimitri answers though, so it's not like he's entirely ignoring it in favor of conversation.]
You're no trouble. If you're having trouble sleeping though, you're always welcome to nap in the garden with me—I know a few spots with a nice amount of shade.
[Hm, this soup is pretty good though...he shall consider this recipe a success!]
no subject
Oh! That is very kind of you to offer... I never considered the garden as a resting spot, but I suppose the view and the smells could be rather soothing. But, would I not be disturbing your nap were I with you?
[This appears to be a general concern for Dimitri. He does not want to put An Zhe out, nor bother him in the least... despite how haggard he looks.]
no subject
Also, that worry gets a curious look from An Zhe.]
Why would you be disturbing me?
[Not like you're gonna be running around causing a ruckus, right?
Right...?]

bearnapping
His wide eyes trail after the chocobo for a few moments before turning to see An Zhe evidently giving chase. ]
Something of yours?
[ He points toward the chocobo's retreating form. ]
no subject
Yes, it's—something I made...
[The chocobo pauses just to make a muffled warking noise through the doll, seemingly teasing him, before continuing to run. It's clearly going slower than a chocobo is capable of, but too fast for An Zhe to keep up. Rude!!]
no subject
Looks like it's trying to play keep-away...
[ Alas, the chocobo doesn't understand that even that slowed pace isn't sporting for a mushroom man. ]
I can chase down a mounted rider, so I should be able to catch the guy.
no subject
You can? But that's...it's so fast!
[Says the mushroom, for whom being able to walk is a miracle...]
no subject
Fast's my strong suit.
[ He has a few strong suits, but he knows well that speed is his bread and butter. The tradeoff is he really, really doesn't want to get hit. ]
You want to go with?
[ He jerks a thumb toward his shoulder. An Zhe can go fast with help, right? ]
