⏵ CAMP ETRAYA ⏴
On May 16th, Aurora and the companion bots direct those not heading off to Solmara to make their way to Camp Etraya.

Nestled away from everything else in a large clearing full of wildflowers and redwoods, Camp Etraya is a nostalgic summer camp experience put together just for it's residents! Cabins are assigned, scary stories are told around campfires, gossiping happens among friends on the trails surrounding the cabins - and don't be surprised when something goes awry. After all, this is still Etraya.

While the rest of Etraya is still accessible and will not be blocked off, characters are discouraged from venturing far from camp for too long: Aurora will specify that they are on a mission, and that missions do require participation, but she has intentionally left them the freedom to wander. Not sleeping in their assigned cabins, not participating in events, and staying away from Camp Etraya will end with her having to take more extensive security measures, so please be on your best behavior! The last thing she wants to do is start enforcing boundaries, but she will if she has to.

Camp is set up much like your generic summer camp! Each cabin is named, housing is assigned to characters as they arrive, there are camp counselors, and rotating daily tasks and chores. There are also multiple activities that characters are expected to participate in, and each activity is worth points that goes toward their camp graduation score. This score will be visible on their earpiece, and follows the A-F grading system. We are not be monitoring this, and are leaving character scores up to players. We do, however, ask that you please report your characters' camp grade HERE for rewards and demerits to be handed out after the mission itself.

Cabin assignments can be found here, which also has their roles, and chores assigned to that cabin. Those who are participating in Solmara have received an assigned cabin, too, but their absence toward the beginning will not harm the cabin's ability to compete given how spread out their assignments are.

⏵ WELCOME TO CAMP ⏴

Camp life is meant to instill a sense of belonging, connection with nature, encouragement towards the creative, all on top of a firm foundation of responsibility. Upon arriving, campers will be escorted towards a table of white t-shirts and countless buckets of dye!

Each Etrayan will be invited to make three Tie-Dyed shirts- as well as required to wear one as part of their summer uniform. Camp counselors must wear 80s basketball shorts or cut-off jeans. Campers may wear cargo shorts or a skort. For those with physical limitations to what they can wear, accommodations will be provided.

Here, bonding is the camp runners' priority. They will be pushed into various ice-breaker activities, such as trust falls, two truths and a lie, and Never have I Ever. As the sun goes down, there will be weenies roasting over the bonfire, followed by s’mores and a sing-a-long! With the stars well-visible, it’s off to bed with campers.

Each day after will start much the same: with the ringing of the bell and raising of the flag (Aurora, while unfamiliar with flag designs but an understanding of the concept, has chosen a rainbow flag for the camp. Rainbows make people happy, right?), followed by a meal at the Great Hall, morning assembly, activities with counselors, chores, free time, and then an evening winding down by the great fire. An hour after sun down, campers will be escorted back to their cabins for curfew. Camp Counselors are expected to keep track of their campers, and ensure they're all within their cabins for bedtime. This is part of their grade, too! Curfew lifts an hour before the first bell.

⏵ CAMP ACTIVITIES ⏴

As with most summer camps, Camp Etraya offers a wide variety of activities to participate in. While some of these activities may be mandatory, others are optional. We'll be leaving this up to individual player discretion: perhaps Viktor is mandated to report to arts and crafts, whilst it's optional for Silco to show. Silco, on the other hand, may be mandated to report to the archery contest. Characters are encouraged to participate in a minimum of one camp activity per day.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of camp activities.

Three-Legged Race - You and a partner are tied together at your ankles, and you must race others to the finish line. Those with abilities that would give them an advantage will find that the rope that ties them together hinders those abilities from functioning.
Archery - This can be more traditional, magical, or include moving targets! If you're particularly unlucky, your target may even shoot back.
Softball - What instills a sense of camaraderie better than a bit of team sports? Games will be held on Wednesdays, the field is otherwise available for practice.
Dodge Ball - Standing diametrically opposed to Softball is dodge ball, the bully’s sport. This is a great opportunity to claim dominance or be sent to the Nurse’s Office.
Obstacle Course - You are directed into a large maze with multiple obstacles for them to overcome, such as rock climbing walls, ramps, tires, and nets.
Capture the Flag - Small teams are put together in order to take the flag from a particular bot, whose entire goal is to avoid being caught.
Canoe Race - Canoes are placed into the rivers just off of the camp, and characters must race to the finish line.
Chocobo Riding - Learn how to care for and ride these magnificent birds! Newbies will be taken around the corral, whereas more experienced riders can take the trail around the lake.
Arts and Crafts - Make friendship bracelets, bead lizards, paint rocks, learn origami! Or perhaps you're tasked with putting together an enchanted necklace. Don't know how to do enchantments? Now is as good of a time as any to learn.
Campfire stories - Share scary stories amongst yourselves around the campfire late into the night. If you're particularly unlucky, you may just hear the thing you were just warning others about..

⏵ NIGHT TIME ⏴

Once campers have been put to bed, the counselors can still stay up. Unwind with hidden beers and the strumming of a guitar. Don’t get too comfortable, though, since without supervision, no one is keeping the campers in bed.

After dark, should campers evade their counselors, they can go exploring in the dark. Eerie lights glimmer from the lake. There’s rumors of a headless spectre walking from the archery field to the edge of the forest. Should you behave, you still might hear a scratching at your bunk house window.

And on the very last night of camp, there will be a talent show. Show off your hidden talent and bask in the excitement of wowing your fellow campers!

[ Fabian does look baffled for a moment when he witnessed that small mountain of failed origami experiments.. Maybe a little less baffled when he sees its owner, considering Chu Wenshan had been.. kind of strange before, but-- still, who messes up origami that much?

He glances down to the rock he had been painting - or rather, been doing calligraphy on - and then over to the other. ]

Don't you just want to try something else?

[ Dude, come on! Surely you know when to give up, right? ]

[Jason frowns at first before nodding, clenching his jaw as he looks into the fire. Molly was maybe his last friend and he shooed her away like everyone else.]

It'd be nice. [Maybe someone determined to stick around someone who can survive Jason's anger.]

.. used to be?

[ Sorry, Maria, but it seems that what you're saying is leading to one very confused-sounding teenager.. Fabian was in the middle of aiming, but he lowers his bow as he turns his head to look at Maria, rather than over at the target. His one eye is wide, making him look kind of baffled. ]

What do you mean? Is there no one using bows anymore where you come from? [ What kind of weird world is that even, Maria!!! ]

Look, it's far from Fabian to judge anyone for turning their craft into something pirate-related. That part is pretty cool, actually. He himself is busy doing some calligraphy on a rock, but he is kind of envious of not having thought of Luffy's idea himself first..

Though there are some problems when he looks over at the actual results of the craft.

"Are you sure that is a ship you can be truly proud of?"

"Because he got a choice between a sword and a horn, and then he took the horn!"

Even though Fabian doesn't seem like he was enjoying that tale a whole lot, it does seem like he was properly paying attention to it - at least enough to critique what was going on inside of the story.

And with quite some passion in his tone too, like he really believes in the argument he's making here.

"Who would even do that?"

[Cable is the assigned Authority Figure, the 'sir' is required. Sephiroth knows how to treat ~~superior officers~~ camp counselors.]

As you wish, sir. It's proving a challenge.

[Not one most people seem to be having based on his own observations, but his experience with cooking things on a fire is limited, especially extremely melty things.

It does at least seem like he's not TRYING to delay on purpose, for all that Bed Time was an annoyance he didn't want to deal with. Key ingredients he's missing: smores don't get made over an open flame, he needs coals, and while the crunch of literally setting one on fire can be nice, it's not ideal for the standard campfire treat.]

Hostage situation. "How slowly is 'slowly' in this case?"

He has to agree, flying a boat of bombs over a whirlpool sounds like a fantastic way to lose the bombs and not the whirlpool, and as far as he can tell there's usually a lot of physical weakness to be had in party healers so getting into a fight was a bad idea.

But .. "..Wouldn't blinking just get rid of the blood? It's not like getting a faceful of sand." If the goal was 'fighting blind' and that wound up being the winning strategy so be it, but he's had blood in his eyes plenty of times and it's not usually difficult to clear.

The s'more assembly is watched. This has been an ongoing problem for him, there's gotta be some technique he's missing.

... It's..

[That it takes him a minute to come to a conclusion about how he feels about this camp thing might not bode well.

All in all so far it hasn't been a bad experience. Though he didn't understand the POINT of most of it, their purposes nebulous and wrapped entirely around 'fun' instead of training for any practical skill, it hasn't been terrible.]

Different. [The conclusion reached sounds hesitant.] It hasn't been unpleasant but I'm not sure I understand the purpose of most of the tasks. And there is a curfew.

[Which he doesn't like, full stop. Curfews!]

[ Oh, it's you. In a different world, Carver wouldn't have thought too hard about Eddie. He's a factor here, a useful presence on missions, and thus far he hasn't done anything hateful or really annoying. But there's something about the man that sets Carver's teeth on edge, a nagging thought at the back of his mind that he's missed something important - something that's going to matter.

He exhales through his teeth. ]

Nope. It's Halloween every day in my house.

[ The sarcasm is thick. ]

What're you doing out here?

Sephiroth spent about an hour at the actual combat training bits before deciding he knew more than the instructors did and wandered off.

He's relocated to Arts and Crafts. While he has zero use whatsoever for a flower crown, there's a promise of being able to learn to enchant them afterward with any number of tiny spells. And if it's possible to enchant a flower crown, it's possible to enchant all KINDS of other things.

The young SOLDIER's managed to find himself an unoccupied spot of ground and surround himself in a sea of brightly colored flowers. With no real artistic skill that's been honed through years of color theory he's brought a few of EVERY kind of available flower with him. There's a sad original attempt at a crown to one side, but the current one isn't.. going terribly.

Needs work though.

[ Carver rocks back on his heels, frowning. ]

You think it's that petty?

[ It's certainly a possibility. ]

[ That pauses him. He gives her a long look, secretly uneasy. ]

No.

[ And that nags at him, this past that he apparently lived but cannot remember in any way. Part of it, however briefly, was with her. ]

I'm imagining I was a shitty fake husband, though.

Shhp! Shut up! [they wave the little knife emphatically; it's unclear if they're yelling at themself or the kid. maybe both!

their voice lowers to a harsh whisper:] The hell are you doing out here! Those things are gonna hogtie and drag you off!

On principle, Sephiroth approves of the green chocobos more than the other colors. His own was, and it had taken a while to catch the thing once he found one the right shade of green - instead of bright and vibrant, a deep foresty hunter green, exactly the way he liked it.

He'd brought his on purpose though, and it has learned to NOT try to incubate him like an egg, unlike Silver's. He watches for a long moment as the hedgehog is bullied by his own bird before stepping over carefully to nudge the hen off her prize before those quills do damage. Quills were sharp, weren't they? "You probably shouldn't let your bird treat you like a chick."

[Just turning up at people's campfires when he's not assigned to has proven to be interesting so far, and a good way to delay the inevitable encroachment of the dreaded Curfew; Cable's hard to avoid for long.

It's still a little bit away, and there's no real accident that Sephiroth's relocated to Riz's fire, far, faaaar from his cabin, to sit on his heels and watch the marshmallow melt.

Green skin reminded him of Gorgug. But he hadn't seen him anywhere.]

Mansion is the lie? [He sounds cautious about it.] You're well dressed but not what I would expect out of the decadently wealthy.

Fabian seems to be playing softball when Paine shows up, but the teen doesn't exactly seem all that excited about it. In fact, the moment he sees her approach and actually watch it all with some interest, he moves over towards her instead.

"Hey, if you're thinking about joining this, don't bother. I didn't know sports were meant to be this boring at camp."

[Jason hands her an arrow]

Now see if you can notch it. Aim at a target. You don’t have to fire yet if you’re not comfortable yet.

[As Jason demonstrates with his bow and arrow, he thinks about Roy and wonders how he would’ve taught. Roy would probably love all this]

[His expression remains the same. Patient and casual. He waves it off.] If that’s what you want. As I said, Viper cabin.

[ that's peculiar, shadow raises a brow as he watches antigone very closely now to see what makes them any different. ]

[ since they were all forced against their will, but it is something to look into. ]

It seems like she wouldn't make such an error having as much control as she does.

[ doesn't that sound right? ]

[ Every time he sees Silco, the human seems to be saying or doing something aggressive. It feels almost nostalgic, if he could , even though the aggression is not directed at him.

He wears an inexpertly but precisely tie-dyed cloak over his robes, to show he's a willing participant, and he is currently painting on a rock. There's nothing in particular that he's thinking of, but somehow it's starting to resemble Sha'Hala's curled form regardless.

Pattern recognition has always been one of his many tasks. ]

Where would we go? [ He doesn't see any compelling reason to leave, and given the choice he would rather be performing a task than not, but he feels as if he should at least try to answer the question. ] It seems that it is quite empty here, apart from this outpost.

[ Fabian lets out a sound that sounds like it's somewhere right in the middle between a sigh and a whine. ]

You don't have to act all formal about this, you know. [ At least he very much isn't even surprised by Manny's presence or appearance at this point.. Though he does kind of wonder how they're going to fit into a cabin like this. ]

It's just another dumb mission. No, it's even less than that. They are just making us play pretend for no reason.

[Manny had been watching the archery range for a little while. It’s not very often that he goes over to this particular activity, as his anatomy prevents him from being able to effectively wield a bow. So all the mammoth can do is act as a spectator.]

Yes I did. That’s a pretty impressive shot there.

[That’s a good question. Hopefully, the bots had accounted for Manny's size and proportions when they'd assigned him to this particular cabin.]

Oh, I'm aware of that. But I just wanted to make sure that everyone’s here and okay. At least it’s not like that last mission we had to do.

Is there?

[ His eyes flit to the side as he didn't realize there was a curfew. Or rather, maybe, it was mentioned but he already started to drain his head of all thoughts. Well, they're probably still within curfew? Probably? Well, as an adult that's present, he'll make sure Sephiroth doesn't get in trouble. ]

I don't know the point of camp, either. [ Henry decides to wind back to that point instead of fixating on that point. ] But I think... it's about being ... [ His eyes flit about the area. ] ... friendly in forests. I guess.

[Henry, what the actual fuck.

Claudia can walk through the Otherworld and thinks that sounds dangerous. She wouldn’t risk it, though she couldn’t be trapped so easily either.]

Dare I ask what these worlds were?
