A Clash of Eikons - Semi-Open
WHO: Odin (Barnabas + Sleipnir), Bahamut (Dion), and YOU(?)
WHEN: 7/5 midday
WHERE: The expanse of Ochreward
WHAT: Just a couple of magical kaiju having themselves a lil duel
NOTES\WARNINGS: Mild magical violence, will update as needed
To the northern reaches of Etraya's bubble there is a long strip of land that is otherwise uninhabited. Ochreward is its name, and today it will serve as the battlefield for two giant Eikons. While their chosen arena should provide them ample area for this clash of theirs, that does not mean others would not see the towering forms of these magical beings as they bring sword and claw to one another. Their considerable size of over hundred feet would serve to earn them notice alone, but Bahamut's impressive wingspan that reaches twelve fold their height only encourages would-be onlookers in kind.
As would the spectacle of their magic and attacks.
With Odin's massive black blade cutting devastating arcs of unfathomable destruction towards his opponent, Sleipnir's hooves crackling with thunderous lightning with each step he takes upon the open air, and Bahamut's searing beams of purging light ripping across the sky as he likewise soars its expanse—one might be hard pressed not to notice. Not to mention, for those more sensitive to magical energies, this is not unlike a hurricane of magic, dark and light energies swirling and clashing like a maelstrom without cease.
The wildlife in the area is also fleeing from the vicinity, not wanting to be caught in the crossfire.
Should one wish to watch the spectacle from a safe distance, or try to interfere with these giants, that is ultimately up to them, but the two seem rather focused on one another. No obvious concern is given for the destruction their attacks cause their battlefield with its otherwise underdeveloped state; they might not notice those who attempt to approach them immediately.
Though, there also was a network post regarding the whole thing, but not everyone is going to notice that when there's quite literally a clash of titans happening in their backyard.
(ooc: There will be a thread where Odin and Bahamut are fighting which will work as a reference point for anyone who wishes to have a TL on here to watch/interact with others during this whole thing, but also for those who wish to try to get involved please feel free to specify such with your TL so Ren and I can interact with it as well. If you want to try to plot anything specific please feel free to hit me up (discord is zanono/

Basically this is just a big kaiju battle mingle of sorts! There were bound to be some slap fights eventually!)

ODIN VS BAHAMUT
Once Dion is in the area—once he can feel Bahamut proper—black mist sweeps around Barnabas' form. Swirling into a twisting torrent of malice and magic as the aether from within consumed him without. Darkness encasing him and expanding with an eruption of deep red aether, crackling and roiling with a threatening display of abyssal magic as not only Odin manifests, but so too does his beloved steed Sleipnir.
His foreboding form stands tall among the otherwise empty expanse, the deep aether blue of his eyes locked upon Dion as he waits for his opponent to manifest into his truest form. That they may take to this battlefield and test each other. It has been too long...
Raising his sword in challenge, he makes no move to attack. Not yet.]

Surely, for their world, he must grow stronger. He must be better.
This thought has passed through his mind many times since arriving in Etraya proper. It motivated him in this course, much as it spurs his strides toward the tallest hill in the vicinity. He'd proposed this area for multiple reasons, one of which was the presence of the highest point in the vicinity. It's not enough to give his wings clearance, of course, but he will make do.
He crests the hill with the purposeful strides of a soldier and immediately springs as high as his dragoon legs can propel him. Light swiftly gathers around him, pale and luminous, building upon itself until he reaches the greatest height of his leap. With a burst of his aether, great leathery wings unfurl, and a swift beat of them draws his ascent further still.
Despite himself, despite trusting Clive will do his utmost, Bahamut still surveys the scenery. Barren, quiet of even wildlife. Good. His draconic head turns Odin's way at last. On this battlefield, perhaps he can show Odin what Ultima learned of him in the end. ]

At a semi reasonable distance: totally responsible teenager definitely going home
The sheer size of the combatants means he's carefully selected a location he's reasonably sure is WELL outside of the range of being suddenly stepped on or otherwise noticed by fighters THAT BIG, which should be safe. Probably. Mostly safe. Well in case it isn't, that's one of the many reasons he'd told his roommates about it; one can fly and the other can teleport and also this is awesome so they need to see it too.
What's one comparatively tiny black and silver splotch? It's fiiine.]
That's Odin. A very. Very big Odin. The other looks like off-color Neo Bahamut..?
[Surely not.]

Odin...Neo Bahamut...is that the names of those fighting giants in the distance? One of them, the dragon, is apparently Dion according to the responses in Clive's broadcast.]

[ She's got a selection of snacks from home. There's also a blanket that she brought to lay out whereever they decided to set up to watch. Despite the sound of her tone on the radio earlier, she's had an eager expression she couldn't quite hide.
...Well it is a bit true that she's concerned Popp and Sephiroth might get into a contest over stray fire, she doesn't actually expect them to do so when it's something very serious.
And despite her eagerness to watch, Gaia is keeping a sharp eye on the aether around them and in the distance to ensure they're get a lot of warning to escape if it becomes truly necessary. ]

a new eikon approaches!
So when he spots what looks like three teenagers having a picnic in a place with a fantastic view - which, in Joshua's estimation, means they have no idea how far Dion's light can reach - he readies himself.]
I cannot let it happen again. For their sake...and for Dion's.
[He runs and leaps off of the rock formation he's standing on, and a moment later he transforms in midair in a brilliant blaze of iridescent flames - definitely visible at a distance to anyone who might happen to be looking in that direction, though he assumes all eyes will be on the combatants instead. With a cry, the Phoenix circles to build momentum and then flies with all speed toward the high place where the children sit. He intends to simply touch down and explain the danger to them, but as he approaches, he spots a stray beam of light slicing through the air toward them.]
No!
[He shifts, cutting out the intervening space to teleport between the two with fiery afterimages in his wake, and ends up facing the incoming attack. He brings up his shield just in time to block it, holding firm until this particular flare of light is spent.
In the midst of this, he feels something strange yet familiar, a shift in the surrounding aether. But he has no attention to spare for it until his job is done. Once it is, he turns only to see their picnic space abandoned...for but a moment or two, and then they return as if there was no interruption at all. And oh, that aether is familiar - but he knows for certain where Barnabas is, and it definitely isn't over here. Intriguing.
But not intriguing enough to follow up on just yet. He has to make sure they're all right.
So he circles around once more and then lands maybe ten feet from their picnic blanket, changing back into human form as he does. The elegant flames linger for a moment around him and then dissipate as he moves toward them.]
Are you well?
WHY ARE THEY ALL SO BIG

yet, and he's been dutifully checking in to say he's alive and conscious as he recovers from his concussion.) ]{ Etraya is apparently having its first of many large, magical Kaiju-like fights by people from the populace, in a far, deserted area on Ochreward. Two things to note while you're all weighing your options suddenly—I will be recording all of this downstairs, using what we currently have here and there to get better specs on our combatants and a better setup out there for the next one.
One, if you're headed out, I want to patch a live cam into whatever you're taking to get what will be missed. Two, if you're coming downstairs, you can only get in the door if you bring snacks and chairs, and swear not to touch any part of the desk on pain of death. }

In & around Ochreward: Phoenix | OTA
Since it appears people aren't really doing that, though, Joshua is here surveying the area in case he needs to step in and help anyone out. Combat is messy and unpredictable no matter how cautious one is, particularly at such an enormous scale. He has both seen and personally waged enough eikon battles to know this to be true.
Anyone who finds themselves too close for comfort (whether their own or that of a concerned Dominant) may encounter a third enormous creature - though not as enormous as the dragon and the knight - who takes to the air and makes a beeline for them. If their world has legends of a phoenix or firebird, that's exactly what this eikon looks like.
It circles above them once or twice and then descends low enough to hover in place some 20 feet above the ground, fiery wings flapping to keep it aloft. When it speaks, it does so in a man's voice with a polite but urgent tone, which appears to be coming from within the eikon rather than directly from its beak.
"You shouldn't be here, it's too dangerous! Please, allow me to carry you to safety."
no subject
They hadn't thought they were too close, but apparently someone thought otherwise. Sleeper didn't spot the giant flaming chicken at first, but when it shot towards them, they couldn't help the instinctive reaction, spitting a stream of fire-retardant foam to make something resembling a barrier. This was something they considered far more dangerous than the two combatants. Then the creature spoke, and they reconsidered, but their wariness and mild fear wasn't put aside.
"I don't think so."

Diana considers the enormous winged creature, studying it with interest. She has her arms crossed over her chest, standing for a moment on the ground to gauge the way it's shaking beneath the strike that hit earth instead of eikon. "That is very kind of you, but I'm fine right where I am."

Somewhere on the vantage they've chosen...
Privately she has to tell herself they'd be right and she'd have once been among the first to say this is a bad idea. Whether it's for better or worse, Gaia has been influenced by Popp and Sephiroth (and her short time bonded to a curious dragon's soul in Kamurkia).
Visitors have come and gone and very occasionally they have had to dip to brief safety but all's well. The perch the trio of teens have chosen is high for its vantage and far enough away that she and the others with their skills combined can retreat through teleportation from any collateral harm. There's a blanket, there's a sizeable stash of snacks and it's a fairly nice day to watch a kaiju battle.
Gaia's willing to talk to people, can be caught enjoying a light snack and a beverage from the stash and following the fight itself. There would even be a moment in which she'd point in a direction shortly before a massive bird of flame- the Dominant of Phoenix- rises to the sky and begins to circle protectively to guard or rescue any onlookers. ]
Cid Telamon (with snacks and a keg)
[He gives Ixion a pat on the head before he dismounts and drags a keg down out of the other saddlebag.]

1. because she was literally pinged by the word "dragon" in Clive's post.
2. to make sure her free-range chocobos weren't in the line of fire. With a toot of her newly received whistle and the promise of a couple heads of gyshal greens, she had attracted their attention... as well as that of several other horsebirds.
She comes across Cid in the midst of bringing the flock back south. This means it's probably far enough? Fingers crossed.]

However, anyone getting into trouble might find themselves yanked out of harm's way with a feather hooked into their clothes, cutting it close.

somewhere out of range but nearby and at the ready
Diana watches from afar, a small point of gleaming light high in the air, and shakes her head. ]
Men.
[ Of course.
The battle, however furious, does seem to be remarkably contained, but she keeps a sharp eye out anyway. If one of those streaks of lightning or beams of light goes to close to any gawking onlookers, she'll intervene: to block it, if she can, and to sweep the unlucky rubbernecker up in her arms before they can be hit if she cannot. ]
You should really consider watching from further away. I can recommend the view from atop one of those buildings there.

But, he was also unconcerned about any potential injury. Being impervious to most projectiles had given him a certain - perhaps excessive - amount of confidence in his ability to remain unharmed, even in the most extreme cases.
He is Superman after all and they do not call him that for no reason.
Diana's intervention is not unwelcomed exactly, but in Hernan's opinion, it is unnecessary. So after she blocks the searing bolt of lightning, he stays where he is, seated, and simply looks up at her. ]
I can see fine here. Well, could. You are blocking my view.
[ He smiles as if he's teasing. But really, she is in the way. ]
